Feb 2022 depression agoraphobia alt-rock
Another piece for Curtains, a concept album I started during FAWM 2015.
The beautiful sun
The bird chirping songs
The blaring alarm
Man, I wish they’d shut the hell up
Just let me sleep
To live in a dream
The real world is mean
Too much apathy can leave you numb
You can come over if you want
But try not to knock too loud
You can come over and you will
We both know the drill by now
I envy your joy
It gets me annoyed
Cause in me’s a void
To a shrink, I’d be a wet dream
How don’t you get
That your happiness
Comes off as a threat
To the extrovert I’ll never be
It’s okay to not be okay
When it’s one of those days
When you embrace the moon
But with what strength
Facing the sun takes
Maybe it’s okay
But if not, that’s okay too
You can come over, it’s unlocked
My headphones are on inside
Open the ceiling, let in the rain
It’s too late to save this mind

These quiet sections are great, it's glorious when the loud stuff comes back in again. Another cracker.

Damn! Great dynamics in the song. I really like that opening lyric, it's humorous but real and still packs a wallop. I really like the "It's okay to not be okay" bit. Sometimes we need to hear that.

Hah, "try not to knock too loud". I like the volume dropping back at the beginning of the verses. I like the slide bits.
I like the character sketch, this isolated person, in a void, letting the rain in. "Your happiness comes off as a threat" -- dang.

Excuse me sir but you can't just go posting outtakes from Revolver on here

... that was meant to be a broad smile ;].

There’s a brought smile in me face now.

The intro immediately eminates sunshine! Love the vocal harmonies too. The whole thing is drenched in nostalgia. Really cool stuff.
