Feb 2022 synthpop pop electropop vocals
I wanted to write a Tove Lo type song. I find her music very inspiring. I also hear some NIN, Robyn, and Weeknd influences.
I had fun making the music but also writing the lyrics and singing. I usually don't enjoy writing lyrics or singing. But I found the twist in the lyrics and I got excited.
This is one I might go back and tidy up later.
Verse 1
How you led me on you were a pro at work
Made me feel like I could let you in my world
Breaking down the walls I spent years putting up
Damn your kisses and your touch became my drug
Verse 2
In a twisted way I do respect your game
You had moves I had never seen displayed
Misdirection and a sleight of hand so smooth
You were my answer and I was your fool
Chorus
All I wanted was to have your love
But you played me now there is no trust
When I looked into the mirror
I was looking at the sinner
Verse 3
All my friends believed they thought you were the one
I was filled with fear but I took the jump
Now the wreckage spans across my universe
If I could go back in time I’d break this curse
Bridge
Everyone said you gotta love yourself
But it led to my own private hell
So I dismiss this old worn out lie
And do battle with myself until I die

Wow this is sooo cool. Great opening hook and those drums are solid and driving out a great backbeat.
Those vocal now is a different story...just awesome enough said. WATCHLIST!!!!!

At first, bevor listening, I thought that you’d revere to the sequel „The Sinner“ staring the fabulous Bill Pullman. Well, he often looks into the mirror, his inner self. But your song is very enjoyable even without my expection. Thx for the joy.

Man, this makes me want to play with some arpeggiators! This feels like it could come from the Drive soundtrack. Such a funky groove especially when bass comes in for the bridge.
@ductapeguy Feb 2022
That is so funky and fresh, The funky bass break and the drum breaks add sparkle to the whole song.

love that philip glass-like arpeggio churning away, propelling the synth-pop angst and the breakdown in the bridge gives me a moment to catch my breath. exciting vocals throughout.

I love the mix on this. Just right up in your face. I enjoyed the groove. That bridge jam was tasty too. Your vocal felt right in the pocket, nicely delivered. Nice write, those bridge lyrics in particular are quite sharp.

Yeahhh this is way cool! Great synth pop groove, very catchy. Melody is very catchy. I was watching the tv series Gomorrah last night and if you were singing in Italian this would fit right in with that! :-)

Oh man, I love this right from the start. And I love the way it keeps building and adding subtle details as it develops. I definitely hope you take the time to refine this and make it even more awesome! As for the twist, is this a bootstrap paradox love story? I'm my own grandpa, and my own spouse? Ha! That bridge has some damn sweet jams. Keep 'em coming!
