My first song of the year is about miniatures and space travel.
Big thank to you @lovina for the wonderful backing harmonies!
I’m flying high beneath the lightbulb sun
But I came too close so I crashed out on the rug
My ship is blown the pieces everywhere
A dusty creature came by to stop and stare
Help me!
I don’t have the key
Won’t you help me?
Up there it’s said to be
A host of wooden stars guide your way home
Saturn’s rings and Mars of styrofoam
Through window in to night
For your final starry flight
Open it, you’ll find your way home
The creature brought me to the Queen of Lampshade
And she told me the pieces that I need are deep within that cave
So I journeyed on and found the massive trunk
A man stood guard made of rolled paper, cloth and gum
Help me!
I don’t have the key
Won’t you help me?
In there it’s said to be
A host of wooden stars guide your way home
Saturn’s rings and Mars of styrofoam
Through window in to night
For your final starry flight
Open it, you’ll find your way home
I peer inside, find the pieces that I need
And deep in the corner, the key that sets me free
The window now open, to access the night
Fix up my ship, and blast into flight
A host of wooden stars guide your way home
Saturn’s rings and Mars of styrofoam
Through window in to night
For your final starry flight
Open it, you’ll find your way home
A host of wooden stars guide your way home
Saturn’s rings and Mars of styrofoam
Through window in to night
For your final starry flight
Hopefully you’ll find your way home

What a fun epic arrangement! Backing vocals add a lot! Love the references to miniatures and space that so epic that it could actually be the journey of fantasy movie. Those little pitch bands on the end of synth are perfect.

This is epic! And fun. This has big energy and I really like it. Especially the Help me's

I really like the upbeat vibe of this song! I'm a big synth fan, so hearing you use it to help give the aura of outerspace was a terrific stylistic choice. I also enjoyed the balance of the vocal and instrumental components. My next goal is to be more polished in my final product, like yours. Right now. I'm just recording on my phone. Thanks for the inspiration!

Wow, this has such a fun, energetic vibe! Love the underlying “Jump”-like synth/bass line that keeps the energy up during the verses, and the chord progression during the chorus is so satisfying. I really like the descriptive lyrics, as well as the vocals and overall production. Haha, the ending made me laugh! Excited for this one to hit Spotify!

I almost audibly said "hell yeah" under my breath twice in the first 15 seconds.
Those gang-harmonies are fun as heck
Love that vocal style in the left-channel "HELP ME"'s
"your final starry flight" that chord change was a certified Ned moment
That lil bendy thing in the left channel in the bridge is a GREAT piece of arranging
This goes hard.

Those drums sound huuuuge! Great harmonies and retro synth. The tension in the pre-chorus is excellent. Very enjoyable listen.

I second @evandiem , really love that synth riff in the beginning. The line "I’m flying high beneath the lightbulb sun" hooked me in from the beginning. "A host of wooden stars guide your way home, Saturn’s rings and Mars of styrofoam" is probably my favorite, and I love the part where your voices harmonize in the bridge. Great collab!

That opening synth riff just grabbed me in immediately, this is so cool. It feels so rooted in the really spacey prog-rock of the late 70s, early 80s. Had to check your profile to see if your influences were Styx, Rush or Yes, hahaha. Also shoutout to a fellow Syracusian!!
@gammafied Feb 2022
Those synths just explode in your ears! I especially like the runs right before verse starts. Nice contrast with the Help Me stanza. Unique subject matter. The chorus is my favorite lyrical part.

What a fun start to FAWM! The harmonies were great, @lovina !
@nedgreenough Feb 2022
@andrea Take your time! Looking forward to it!

Just a quick message to let you know I am working on our collaboration. I will need a few more day, maybe even a week. I'll talk to you again soon. In the meantime, I can't wait to hear more of your music.
@andrea Feb 2022
This is a journey of good vibes! Clever entertaining lyrics backed by amazing music. Love the harmonies! I loved it!
@tretopcarter Feb 2022
Very proggy. Very spacey. Very good.
@nadine Feb 2022
Listening to the first seconds - Why do I have to think about Van Halen - Jump?! You nailed that mix of classic rock and prog. A bit oldschool, catchy and fun lyrics.
@gorban Feb 2022
I see what you did there with "Lightbulb Sun", my fellow follower of Porcupine Tree. The melody and arrangement sound more inspired by The Flower Kings or Genesis. Lots of fun. Love the synths!
@dreamscuba Feb 2022
I love the epic synth melody. Great story line. Vocals and backing vocals are very good. Great song.
@wistah Feb 2022
This is great! Feels like an awesome TV show theme that I would binge watch the heck out of. The synth is so delicious!
@franniezest Feb 2022
Vocals blend so nicely together and w the keyboard too!
Great overall sound and melody too!
@intoyourlight Feb 2022
Oh yes, I dig the 80ies feeling of this with that synth! The „Help me…“ part has a very proggy feel to it which I like :) keep it up!
