One of my world-famous 4 hour, 1 hour scrimmages. Whatcha gonna do.
The S020222 prompt is "baggage" and my last couple of songs were conceptually heavy so I wanted to go for something a bit silly and a literal interpretation of the prompt. My muse disagreed, but we compromised and ended up with a rocker about about a troubled individual with a cheeky nod to the Box Tops classic.
[INTRO]
Gimme a ticket for an aeroplane
Cause I ain’t got time for no slow ass train
My babies moving on,
and I know when she’s gone
My life will only get better…
One Two Three Four!
[CHORUS]
Gimmie a ticket for an aeroplane
The sooner she gone
the sooner I’m ok
Got her bags all packed
And when she’s in the past
She can dump that baggage on some other
[VERSE]
I don’t wish any one else her misery
But I can’t take no more of what she’s doing to me
It’s like every fucking day
I’m looking for escape
From the tragedy that she seems to welcome
I don’t know what someone before did to her.
I’d feel sorry if I could still feel that for her.
Instead of therapy
She keeps dumping it on me
She’s got more issues than this guy can handle
[CHORUS]
Gimme a ticket for an aeroplane
The sooner she gone
the sooner I’m ok
Got her all over packed
And when she’s in the past
She can dump that baggage on some other
[VERSE]
If you see me getting pulled back into her game.
Convinced that I can save her from the mess that she made
Punch me in the face
And send me out to space
I’d rather die in the vaccine then live in this place
[VERSE]
Maybe she’s the victim and I’m just an ass
I lack decency, empathy and class
All I know for sure
Is every minute I’m with her
I’m wishing that it’d be my last
[CHORUS]
Gimme a ticket for an aeroplane
I gotta get out.
While I’m still just a bit sane.
Her bags over packed
And when she’s in the past
She can dump that baggage on some other
[BRIDGE]
Good afternoon passengers. This is your captain speaking. Welcome aboard Flight GTFO. We are currently cruising at an altitude of 33,000 feet. The weather looks good and with the tailwind on our side we should anywhere else ahead of schedule
[CHORUS]
Gimme a ticket for an aeroplane
The sooner she gone
the sooner I’m ok
Got her all over packed
And when she’s in the past
She can dump that baggage on some other
[OUTRO]
Gimme a ticket for an aeroplane
Cause I ain’t got time for no slow ass train
My babies moving on,
and I know when she’s gone
My life will only get better…

Well I can certainly hear why this took you more than an hour to do! Good take on the prompt and I hope you don't get sued by the Box Tops!
@seppo Mar 2022
Love the way to explode my brains with those really unorthodox bass lines :)
@moonraccoon Feb 2022
Exciting dissonance! What a juxtaposition against such energetic, poppy singing. And that lede line certainly tickled some nostalgia for good measure.
@dasbinky Feb 2022
Solid stuff! I wouldn't have tagged this as a skirmish at all (even a four hour one). Really interesting dissonance going on throughout. My brain's having fun parsing the movements. Really dig the movement in the melody too. Super cool tune!
@ajna1960 Feb 2022
This line reminds me of my ex...
"Maybe she’s the victim and I’m just an ass
I lack decency, empathy and class" :)
Love the alt rock vibe, very cool song :)

The subject reminds me of Pearl Jam's Rearviewmirror. This is rock'n like that, but a lot more classic '80's sounding. The guitars sound spectacular here & I really like your vocal performance. Great stuff!
See You In The Shadows…

This feels like a great compromise with your muse. Cheers to flight GTFO and that baggage being dumped on some other!
@vivalarayna Feb 2022
"I’d feel sorry if I could still feel that for her/Instead of therapy/She keeps dumping it on me" oh, yeah.... this is a hard rocking, no holds barred, GTFOH good time. "Ain't got time for a slow ass train" made me smile when I realized the context. I'll have this on repeat.
@keithcuts Feb 2022
Oh snapp. Hard rocking Crisp vocalsslayed the prompt double entendre on baggage
@nahlej381 Feb 2022
Yessir that’s the business. The instrumentation is perfect.
@jwhanberry Feb 2022
We're here to have fun and it sounds like you sure did. Good tight rock production and a tongue in cheek lyric. Great work.
Bonus points for taking longer than me. Thanks!!!
@jessicamoon Feb 2022
Great vibe! Slow ass train = good stuff!
