I've had the first couple of lines for a while, and was just waiting for FAWM to flesh it out. As usual at the beginning of February, my voice sounds a little creaky (apparently I should sing more consistently throughout the year!) but no doubt it will warm up some as the month goes by️. I do find that the song sounds better (crisper) under earphones/buds.
Update: I’m planning to re-record this at some point as I’m pretty unhappy with the way it sounds (piano too heavy- handed and the double vocals make it way too muddy), but for now.,.
Let there be light
Let there be understanding
Let there be open minds, and open hearts,
And a promise of what there can be
Let there be light
Let there be joyful music
Let there be melody, and harmony
In lovely unity
BRIDGE
Light of the World, You were there
Teaching us all how to care
Changing the dark into day
Lighting the way
Let there be light
Let there be grace and mercy
Let there be wisdom, and then some
To illumine the path that we’re on
Let there be light
Break through the clouds of heaven
Let there be sunshine, and healing, and peace
But most of all love – most of all love
Let there be light

What a lovely song! Listening to it fills me with peace. I can almost smell the candle wax as I imagine one person in the dark, lighting a candle and then passing the flame to another person holding a candle, who then goes on to light the candles of others, and so on, until the light of hundreds of candles illuminates the whole space. I especially love the way you end on a minor chord. Doing so ought to sound sad, one would think, but it doesn't. Instead it just sounds beautiful.

A gorgeous piano melody that brings these excellent lyrics to life in an impressive way. I like the gospel-ish touch here and your voice suits the song beautifully. The harmonies are very tasteful, too. Some truly beautiful metaphors like "Let there be light / Break through the clouds of heaven".

Re-record after FAWM, that's what the other 11 months are in the year for. Right now, just get it out and down. Which you have here, admirably, together with good vocal harmonies, and arresting melody and a setting of the message which would suit congregational singing too.

This song demonstrates the opening up to light that it invokes. It shows us how, in other words, which is a nice bit of prosody (if I'm using that correctly, I'll check in a minute). :) Anyway, I don't mind the piano being a bit strident, either. Good movement there. I've missed your, positive, clear messages of a song like this!

The think piano needs to be heavy handed in Gospel music. Is it me or does your voice have more than a resemblance to Carole Bayer Sager? Very nice performance and the message in your lyric is one we can all relate to. Enjoyed.

Very nice gentle gospel sound. Really works well with the lyrics. I'd love to hear a choir do this!

Love hearing your lovely, pleasant voice again, friend! You always bring the folksy goodness, and your songs shine hope to those who listen. Really liking that bridge chord progression.

Ahhhh this is a really nice one to start with. I like how in song form rather than a proclamation it's a prayer - a prayer for those things rather than a statement or a command that they are. There's hope in a prayer, an openness to seeing things how they could be no matter what they are now. Your choice to keep the music bright and still somber in the melody supports it, and your voice makes the prayer fly. Lovely idea, lovely arrangement and performance!

This is nice and pretty. The double vocal sounds wonderfully weird and suits the song. It was a nice relaxing listen and I enjoyed it.
We’ll done getting off the mark.

Beautiful piano playing. Lovely melody. The lyrics flow so well. Very uplifting, even with the somber ending. Nicely done!
