Want intros? Outros? You're in the wrong place my friend, but welcome. It's bare-bones around here this year* with my daughter turning 8 months today. Wish I had something a bit cheer-ier to bring to the celebration, but here we are. I think this song has something to say, not sure I completely captured it this go-around but its got a pretty solid chorus, a good-if-creepy vibe, some off-kilter harmonies, no bridge, and some fun wordplay - i.e. its a pretty on-brand Joe Scala song. And it's my first song of my 10th(?) year of FAWM. My how the time flies**. Glad to be here with you all, hope you're having fun. Enjoy!
Garageband file available here, so do whatever you like, and let me hear it when you're done! https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1hUaPjXyJvqbtxKlfuHCNmh5nLEZB9AeZ?usp=sharing
* I've kind of sorta decided to sequence all my drums this year, and I'm not trying to hide it. Garageband sequencer on the ipad does the trick.
** I heard Once in a Lifetime on the radio today... "My GOD, WHAT have I DONE!"
Well I try to keep from trouble
I try walk the line tween right and wrong
But in time I always stumble
Fall back to the ways I always known
This world was not made for me and you
No this world was not made for me and you
The storm knocks out the power
Sirens rip a hole right through the night
And there’s acid in the water
There’s radon in the air, lead in the pipes
This world was not made for me and you
No this world was not made for me and you
I feel the planet turning
I feel the earth churn hot beneath my soles
There’s no use trying to fight it
Easy come and easy shall I go
This world was not made for me and you
No this world was not made for me and you

Well, if we have to live in this hostile world at least we can have good music like this. This has a ramblin' hard-times feel. That second verse really does shine. This arrangement is perfect as it is but I can imagine this tune getting adopted by the rowdy folk-punk kids.

Oh man, love this. Such a great feel to your guitar playing. Vocals sit so well in the mix. Lyrics are killer. Second verse is my favorite...So good!

I particularly like the early backing vocal around 1:20, because it sounds good and because knowing you I can't tell if it was intentional.
There's a lot of good imagery here, but that last line of the third verse has such a great edge to it, just a killer collection of syllables, and so much more final than the other fourth lines.

Great take on “made for me and you” usually in the positive. Love the atmosphere and space. Nice harmonies. Congrats on the little one. Children can inspire you as well as tire you.
