I learned over the last several months in having a falling out with someone I really loved that losing them was the greatest grief I could imagine because I didn't feel I had closeness and love that way often in my life. It felt like I'd never be able to find that again at the moment and although I'm doing much better these days, it's still the biggest thing I've dealt with emotionally in a very long time and I expect it'll still keep coming out in my songs some.
Thanks to @wylddandelyon for drawing me a card and for the #cardchallenge that inspired this!
I guess I was just a kid
When I first learned to resist
All these feelings in my chest
And I guess I was thirty-one
When I finally lost someone
And tore open the stitches
If we should see the other side
Will you come back to me?
I’ve heard all good things must end
Even lovers and best friends —
Are summer breezes, passing through
But I’m not sure I buy in
I am always dreaming
Teenage fiction over truth
If we should see the other side
Will you come back to me?
My arms are open wide
My love is always free
When people ask me what I want
I say it’s never really changed
It’s love, it’s always love
Again, again, again
If we should see the other side
Will you come back to me?
My arms are open wide
I should be so lucky

Very beautiful and unique song. Your singing and playing have amazing feel and shows true emotion. Achingly beautiful. Very heartfelt and memorable. Skillful and inspired.

Love your voice. You capture a complex emotion beautifully. All the what-ifs and maybes, all the longing and aching for what was and what could've been. A lot of songs capture it in a cheesy way. Not this one. Great song.

Nice write. Captures the "if only I could go back" feel wonderfully. The muted guitar which offers the "response" to the lyric's "call" works super well.

Love guitar bits that pull you in right away. love the emotive nature of your vocals. Great at pulling tension. Good work. :) -Ru

This is an achingly emotional song, sung with feeling. You have let us into your heart, which shows great depth and vulnerability. Thank you for trusting us with this. I hope it was cathartic.

I like the exploration of emotional history and the soft melody and vocal performance that opens into something more cathartic. This is really pretty and very relatable.

Love that rhythm guitar pattern and the little plinky lead stuff over it adds some nice interest without distracting from the vocals. Loss is so hard, I hope getting it out in song helps you process!

Such a great tune! I love the little guitar lead that plays throughout.

Great guitar strumming pattern. And some high notes to color the arrangement!
I loved the lyrics felt like the insight of a memory of a lost

I really love your voice and the whole vibe. That line 'even lovers and best friends are summer breezes, passing through, but I’m not sure I buy in' struck a chord with me

Jorge! Off to an amazing start as always. This is stunning! I really love the first verse here, and the hook - its love, it’s always love

There's so much I like about this. Your voice is just the right amount of control and scared to get the emotion across. The playing and mixing is great, and the lyrics! Excellent job.

Great feels here. I especially enjoyed the energetic pace of the rhythm guitar, and your emotion in the vocals.

Thank you for sharing your story of vulnerability and growth. When traumatic things happen, they don't have to be world-changing for everyone, just for us.
I loved the stripped-down approach to this song, with just the right instrumentation to showcase the dynamics and emotion of the story you're telling us all. That said, I'd love to hear a full band version in the future from you and I think this song has the potential for catharsis for others as well.
