Feb 2022 acoustic-one-take silly fuc groundhog phone-recording
Wanted to bust something out for the uke day/groundhog challenge ON the day, so here's a quick kind of farty sounding phone recording of a song I just wrote! I might re-record or I might not! Who knows! Anyway, I think it's kind of cute and funny! Okay, gotta go be a mom now!
I needed you to give me sign
But all you wanted was to change my mind
You know I'll buy whatever you're selling
Even if it's only to sell me a line
Feels like I haven't seen the sunshine
Since you put me on ice
Won't you pull me out of deep freeze, darlin'?
To feel my feet again would be nice
Not to mention look in your eyes
Oh will Spring ever come?
Will I ever get some?
Hey hey it's Groundhog Day
Tell me what ol' Phil has got to say
Will you blow my blues away?
Or is Winter going to stay?
I ain't really asking for much
Just a little warm and tender touching
Hearing that you love me would be nice
But a couple kisses might be enough
To hold me over
Until you pull your head out of your ass
And stop being so hellbent on passing up such a good thing
Hey hey, it's Groundhog Day
Tell me what ol' Phil is predicting
Another 6 weeks of your indecision?
Well I'll still be here either way
Hey hey it's Groundhog Day
Tell me what ol' Phil has got to say
Will you blow my blues away?
Or is Winter going to stay?
I'll still be here either way
I'll still be here come what may
I'll still be here come May

Hiya lovetape! I Jes diskovered this song and I'm likin' it a lot! Nice playin' on that ukulele! Yur a mighty fine singer too! Dem lyrics you wrote really touch me as it's bin a cold winter and I'm ready for spring! That hook "Hey hey, it's Groundhog Day" is real catchy and I like it.
So yeah, this is a great and fun song! Any chance ya might write a song about a lonely opossum some day? Oh and my wife, Mrs. Opossum, says congrats on having that baby! She just had 17 or 18 joeys!

Fun listening! I really like how you personify Winter so that it’s ambiguous (to me) in a number of lines whether you are talking to a human or a seaon.z
@eas3637 Feb 2022
This is such a catchy tune! So many fun lines in here - like "Won't you pull me out of deep freeze, darlin'?/To feel my feet again would be nice"
@whispermouse Feb 2022
Lovely idea! Also the repeated use of "ol' Phil" is super engaging. Great song.
@tseaver Feb 2022
Nice write: the "winter's discontent" as a metaphor for a relationship works.
@darcistrutt Feb 2022
Nice mix of topics. Winter and love can both have cold spots. Well done on the uke/groundhog challenge. It is cute!
@bradbrubaker Feb 2022
Cheeky! Favorite line: "Won't you pull be out of deep freeze, darlin'?"
@vomvorton Feb 2022
Ha, very cleverly written! As I understand it, if the groundhog sees their shadow then we have to return our heads to our asses for another six weeks!? This sounds just awful. I am not on board. But this is beside the point, I very much enjoyed the song!
@scubed Feb 2022
Clever way to use Groundhog Day in a relationship song! Very enjoyable song - definitely worth adding to your “keepers” list.

Love the wordplay and the vibe. I'll still be here either way/come what may/here come May!
@kanttila Feb 2022
Nice tune, I always like the sort of natural cool you have in your vocals. I also appreciate rhyming the same word with two different meanings (may, May).
@jlampson Feb 2022
Yes! You rose to the challenge! I love the lyrics and overall vibe. I vote for you re-recording it on March 1st. Or in six weeks.
So what I've never gotten is that there's six weeks until spring no matter who sees their shadow, right?
Anyway, I loved the metaphor you crafted of being cast aside. I hope it isn't your current situation, but if it is maybe it'll be different in 6 weeks and all your blues will be blown away?

Nice song! Cool take on the subject. Nice voice too.
