It's World Ukulele Day, apparently. I wrote a sweet ukulele backing and then couldn't write words that were other than hugely embarrassing to it, so I ditched that and put my uke through an amp simulator and just sang any old rubbish.
It's kind of wonderful
That you know my name
I didn't realise
You thought of me at all
If you wanna talk
You can call me up
Any time of day
I'll always take your call
Athena
Aphrodite
You're Venus
Love almighty
I'm still quite in awe
Of the sound of your voice
I could listen all day
You could say anything
And if you call me up
I wouldn't speak at all
I'd just let you talk
About whatever you want

Ukulele and noisy? well, that sounds fun....Wow, this is the most angular and rock that I have ever heard a uke sound. Your melody is super cool....this song is super catchy in a really cool way, as it is not standard, but has that ear-wormy quality to it. Excellent song!

I'd never have guessed this was a uke without you telling me.
Your "any old rubbish" lyrics are better than 90% of the commercial crap on the radio! What make and model uke did you use for this?
PS If you put a low G on your Tenor, you might just have to adjust (or get adjusted) the slot in the nut a little. Ask for advice at your friendly neighbourhood music store with the instrument in hand. I bought mine with the slot already cut for a low G.

Gosh, this is special! There's a pure and wild magic in it.
@jessicamoon Feb 2022
Oh wow I loved it so much! The uke sounds great and how you deliver the lyrics, awesome
@natalie Feb 2022
This is totally radi-cool! I love the distorted uke and punk-y sound of the vocals. The sound kind of reminds me of Bitch and Animal. Awesome!
@kristinchambers Feb 2022
nice! super cool.
@cubizm Feb 2022
This is a uke! Yes! This song says I Athena says I love you with 'tude.
The lyrics, although you call them any old rubbish, manage to be sweet in the context of the edgy uke. Great juxtaposition.
@owl Feb 2022
I’ve never managed to make my uke sound decent with distortion so I’m quite impressed at how well you’ve done it here! Love that melody on “Aphrodite” in particular.
@kahlo2013 Feb 2022
I love the grungy feeling you deliver with a ukulele. Awesome vocals with the spot on leap from from the spoken verse to beautifully melodic chorus.
@mal Feb 2022
Distorted uke and "any old rubbish" might just be my inspiration.
@headfirstonly Feb 2022
This really rocks. And you can't go wrong with Greek mythology for lyrical content IMO.
And that was a uke through an amp sim? Oooh! (Furtively takes notes)
@pooka Feb 2022
I actually really like these lyrics - they capture the idea of desire!
@alyxanderjames Feb 2022
Love it - the uke, the spoken bits, and the sung chorus all play together for a really satisfying listen! Nice work. :)
@wacha Feb 2022
It has a Sleater-Kinney vibe that hits in all the right places for me, I love it!
@stewartscissor Feb 2022
Loving the lo-fi uke with those vocals, great combo!
@valeriecox Feb 2022
Greek Gods. Cool! How about that uke? So great to hear you playing it like a grungy, dirty guitar. That's golden!
@stephenwordsmith Feb 2022
Half angel, half grit - like all the best goddesses, really. I like the way it soars and scours, often at the same time.
Definitely get a sense that the singer is punching up with this relationship, but without anyone awkwardly being put on a pedestal. Well balanced.
@billwhite51 Feb 2022
sounds like hendrix got hold of a uke and went to town on it and Justine Frischmann, made up some words and sang alone.
@robynmackenzie Feb 2022
Awww yeah gritty amped-up uke! Very punky and fun! I really like the lyrics, they remind me of some of the crushes I've had in the past.
@the3queens Feb 2022
What a novel idea with the uke!
@johnnycashpoint Feb 2022
Lovely! j$
