Another love song! But this one's for a GROUNDHOG, so it's different
The people waiting
Their eyebrows raised and
They do expect a lot from you
They see the marmot
Not knowing the harm it does
To put the pressure on, it’s true
But to me you’re more than just a tool
And those who don’t appreciate you simply are fools
I love you
For more than what you do
For me, how can I see
Your needs better?
You’ll never need to go without
Beyond the shadow of a doubt
You are here all year
But people don’t care
They only flock when it’s your turn
They’ll see the groundhog
Rain, sun, snow, and fog
When are these people gonna learn
That you are more than just a tool
And those who don’t appreciate you simply are fools
I love you
For more than what you do
For me, how can I see
Your needs better?
You’ll never need to go without
Beyond the shadow of a doubt

The poor guy has a lot of pressure on him that one day every year. Love the concept, all the clever rhymes, and that quick end to the chorus is so fun. Nice!

Fun write! Giving ole Pete agency for the other 364 days of the year is brilliant. "How can I see your needs better?" carries the song, to my ears.

Beyond the shadow of a doubt - made me laugh. Great tribute to the groundhog on his special day! The pause in "harm it........does" was fun for the rhyme. Well done.

The delivery of the vocals is really fun and playful, and the internal rhyming is clever. Wonderful job!

This is great. The chord progression is really engaging with a couple of delightful and unexpected twists! Loving the vocal delivery too. Lyrics made me chuckle! And all delivered live to camera too. Very impressive :)
