Drop D
As I grow older
Deep feelings smoulder
In my bones and in my blood
I'm tired of scheming
I would rather be dreaming
Through the fires and the floods
Through the fires and the floods
Through the fires
and the floods.
Signs have been growing
but which way they're going
it's hard for me to say
But I'll heed the warnings
there's no need to wait for morning light
to shine a way
through the fires and the floods
through the fires
and the floods.

Maybe it's the Mountain Goats fan in me shining through but there's something so instantly engaging about a simple guitar song with a fun little interstitial riff. That just does it for me.
This is one of my favorite FAWM songs I've heard this month and not just for the above reasons. Your delivery makes a lot of sense, it's rhythmically compelling and that's one of my favorite characteristics in a vocalist. Super well established rhyme scheme as well (even if you're tired of scheming ) and it is hard to pull off an enjambed rhyme (warnings/morning light) but you justified it with the delivery. Great work

Sounds so beautiful. Liked your overdubbed vocals a lot
@philkmills Feb 2022
In spite of the fires and the floods, the vocals and the music make a relaxing, reassuring combination.

It's so nice to hear your voice again. Beautifully written and performed. Those harmonies though!

Beautiful imagery and those harmonies are omnipresent. Wonderful.

I could happily bathe in those vocal harmonies. I like the patient, reflective way the song develops.
