Paddy Power as a religious experience
Men who scribble pain away
Scribble life away
Scribble life away
In fields imaginary horses run,
My Elysium
My Elysium
But I'm above their desperate prophecies
cos they're not like me, no they're not like me and
To know just when to walk away is to drift away is to drift away
And each and every way this is
My accumulation game
And each and every day this is
My accumulation game
The congregation breathes as one today
A connection known by those who pray or those who find their Christ another way
And our salvation is just one more away
It's paradise below a takeaway
And in moments before God has his say on the 2.15 at 2 to 1 at Bray
I think I might have found divinity
With all these guys they're just like me
Cos each and every way this is
My accumulation game
And every single day this is
My accumulation game

The sound of a real piano is so refreshing and your voice is fantastic here, what a great combination on an intriguing song. It all pulls you in, the lyrics are captivating.

Fantastic lyrics, compelling subject matter, and executed with humour and style. More please!

Beautiful, brilliant song. Reminds me of some of my favorite Radiohead/Thom Yorke songs. Love the piano. Ending was a bit devastating. Wow so good.

Nice chord progression that supports the feel of the story!

Think this might be the most imaginative lyric I've seen on FAWM this year. "and in moments before God has his say on the 2.15 at 2 to 1 at Bray" is genius. Great to hear a real piano too. Oh and kudos on the picture too :)

Very clever lyrics that neatly hide the subject matter. The piano sound is a perfect backing for the vocals. Very nicely done!

I admit I had to look up "Paddy Power" and suddenly everything clicked. It's clever, heartfelt, sadly hopeful and in reality hopeless. More I listen, the more brilliant a take this is. (like the win-the-lottery superannuation plan). I doubt SKip came home. Kudos!

This is beautiful, man

Awesome dude, DEFINITELY best song ever written about Ladbrokes!

I find myself in a bar somewhere and dust has gathered in the corners and candles are soon burnt out. People sit scattered on the odd chairs not saying much just silently listening to the guy by the piano singing from his heart. The bar man drying glasses, giving looks and gets a shot of whiskey. Good work. Peace
