So, I started with a perfectly normal MIDI backing track in the key of C using a standard chord progression. I added some reverb. Then some more reverb. Then some more reverb for good measure.
Then I decided that just because it is a perfectly normal backing track doesn't mean it can't also be variable tempo.
At this point I realized I probably wouldn't be able to sing over it and, perhaps, I should think of using something else, so I added the vibraphone (which also got some reverb).
This was made for the "using reverb as an instrument" challenge.

The perfectly normal MIDI instruments that I fed to my reverb included bass, drums, piano, guitar and strings. The reverberating morass that it became doesn't include any effects other than reverb.

Wow, this is beautiful!!! I just love songs like this and I am sure that it was fun to work at it and then hear the final results! So many cool details that you added that show themselves at different times and places and then there is the reverb that has a cool role, too. Very pretty. I did one of these types of things this year and I found it to be meditative to work on--You? Very well done.

I totally love this sea of sound! Such a lush sonic space and the melody is just swimming around in it in the best kind of way!

Ooh I'm here for the reverb. This is gorgeous!

Like the soundtrack to a coronation heard from some chamber deep in the cathedral. Very nice.

I love the distant bells (?) very ethereal!

Massive reverb, that's why I'm here. Nice structure, this flows nicely. Such a rich texture, really deep. Nice. I like it.

I just love soundscapes and reverb. It's like being in a big cathedral. I think you could totally sing in there if you wanted, it just may not be understandable but think Julianna Barwick. It's great as an instrumental.

Starts like an epic movie title! Amazingly warm, just goes to show sometimes more IS better. Likewise bigger. Must say, the progression you're using is a warm and epic one...I don't think this would have worked on whole tone scale :D but here, quite surprising and nappy to the ear.

I absolutely love how lush and large this sounds. Everything gets to play with everything else as they make their way across the sonic stage. It is warm, lovely and wonderful. This was a complete joy to listen to! :)

Oh, wow.... love how big this is! It feels ominous and holy. So good!
