I have no idea where this song came from. It started as a vaguely comical look at myself then it started ringing more and more true. Whether that means my life is inherently comical, I'm not sure but either way, I like the song. It needs a few more lines i think but the lion's share is there.
I’m not lonely
Ok, sometimes I might get lonely
But I am waiting for something I know is real
I’m not stupid
Ok, sometimes I might act stupid
But I’m not giving up on how I want to feel
I’m selfish
But only when it serves me
No one can be that person all their life
I’m decisive
At least I think I might be someday
I will not let my life just pass me by
I see the worry in their eyes that I’m not living my life
This is the best road it can be
And it might take some time but further down the line
I will know her and she’ll know me
I am patient
So stop keeping me waiting
I have things to do and places to be
I am fearful
But I’ll stand upon your stage
And sing so no one ever really sees
I see the worry in their eyes that I’m not living my life
I’m on the best road I can be
And it might take some time but further down the line
I will know her and she’ll know me
I’m not perfect
But I’m hoping that I’m worth it
And I don’t miss you when you walk into my life
And if I know you
But our hearts have never seen it
I know we’ll make up for the time we leave behind
I see the worry in their eyes that I’m not living my life
I’m on the best road I can be
And it might take some time but further down the line
I will know you and you’ll know me

I love the humor in the lyrics and great phrasing and delivery. The rhythmic strumming really propels the song-no need for other instrumentation- the song is complete as is!

This is such a well written song. The self-aware winking wisdom of it along with the phrasing kind of remind me of Paul Simon . . . and that's saying something . But of course your wonderful singing and playing takes this in a direction that is all your own. The title line "I will know her and she'll know me" hits an angle that is both more subtle and achingly beautiful than a more direct hit could ever be in less capable hands. Really enjoy your stuff man.

This is truly brilliant and i can completely sync in with the lyrics. That chorus sums things up perfectly. I love the guitaring on this and the upbeat feel of the song but with such an instant melody that will stay with me . Brilliant

Wonderful write: the determination and hope are lovely. Rhyming "perfect" and "worth it" is genius. The energy and percussion of the guitar hold the song up perfectly.

Thanks to the recommendation thread (at thanks to
@eas3637 on said thread) I'm here - and I think I'll be immediately heading back - after two or three more listens here that is - and putting in a recommendation myself.
Love this. Love everything about it - voice, words, energy. It sounds like you're playing this is front of a huge audience. And they're silent, hooked on every word and awe-struck by the performance....
@kenmattsson Feb 2022
Awesome! This is lyrically so well done. I love the parallelism here and how it really drives the narrative along.
The guitar playing smacks, and your voice has the perfect tambre for this. Well done!
@emkaydeebee Feb 2022
Oh this is beautiful. Poignant, and heartfelt. Gorgeous voice too.
@eas3637 Feb 2022
You had me at the opening strum! And the lyrics are brilliant! I love the structure of the verses and you play out each of the characteristics (selfish, stupid, decisive, etc) with such wit. And the flow of the the chorus is a perfect counterpart to the verses.
@nadine Feb 2022
Real skill. A super catchy song and a good performance. I love the metric of the lyrics.
@tinear Feb 2022
You create some terrific full sounding songs with just an acoustic and a single vocal. I really like the lyrics in this.
@mk2021 Feb 2022
Love the punchy feel of the guitar here. Your melody dances through and the hooks are there in spades. Very catchy and instantly your audience will want to sing along.
@songsfromcarly Feb 2022
You write songs that are instantly addictive
@bradbrubaker Feb 2022
This is excellent. Good structure. Good sound. Yes. The stupid and patient stanzas were my favorites.
@jmso91 Feb 2022
Yes. Yes. Yes. How are you this good all the time!!
@tukayandryan Feb 2022
Love the simplicity of the lyrics in this one. Awesome groove. You are smashing it out of the park already.
@jeff9 Feb 2022
You are so damn good, man. Putting your handle on the recommendation thread so you can get the coverage you deserve. It’s the best stuff on FAWM by a mile.
@celineellis Feb 2022
Yessssssssss. Love this!! Great lyric, nuance, meter and groove. A banger Steveo!!
@mariekevinkmusic Feb 2022
Please write a shit song so we can all feel better.
@andygriff Feb 2022
Oh yes. Just listened to this with Marieke and we both went "yep he's done it again". Splendid stuff
@jorh Feb 2022
One of my faves i've heard so far!! You set up the verses so well with the statement, and then add some nuance to it and show the multi-faceted nature of people. Your strumming and powerful, clear voice really drives this one home. I checked out your influences in your profile, some of my fave artisits, and I can really hear them coming through in your music.
@fonte Feb 2022
Sorry, just, lyrically and the metre of this is awesome. Those first lines ‘I am patient’ etc. Such a strong hook. Your voice is just awesome.
@fonte Feb 2022
Dude. You’re so good. So good. I think I’m a fan. Like a proper one. When’s your next gig??
@klyma Feb 2022
Doooooood! I'm floored. This is great. Love the way the verses are structured. By the time I got to "I’m decisive, At least I think I might be someday," I was smiling so big it was a given I'd have to listen a 2nd and 3rd time. SO MANY GEMS: "I am patient, So stop keeping me waiting..." "I’m not perfect, But I’m hoping that I’m worth it..."
The chords in the chorus are choice and a great break from the rhythm of the verses. What good luck to happen upon this song today.
@daveyboy103 Feb 2022
Energy from the get go with that chippy guitar.
Great country voice and love the song.
Would you mind if I put a band arrangement around this?
