you never rev a motorcar like me
never on a summer filthy green
&robed in rust
and if i never do what i came to know that i must
if that swarm of moths comes and picks me up
well let’s forget we’re friends and call it off
we’ll all forget we’re friends and call it all off
you never raise a loom-breaker like me
always hide the scissors from those vexed in dreams
and if i never grow up enough to make the Cut
if a seething mist never comes and cooks me up
let’s forget the pacts we made and tear the contracts up
let’s forget the pacts we made and
you never give a docile bee like me a book to read
it’ll lose its value when its binding breaks
and if i never learn how to run out of luck
if the senate never votes to break me up
well let’s forget we’re friends but i’ll hold your face in my head
let’s forget we’re friends but i’ll hold your smile to the end

You have a way of writing lyrics where I don't even have to have the first clue what they're about to find them completely heartbreaking. I fuckin' love the imagery here. I really enjoyed the lo-fi sound as well, the simple guitar part and melody complement lyrics like this perfectly.

very cool! Love the vocal sound;
and if i never learn how to run out of luck
if the senate never votes to break me up

I'm a sucker for lo-fi folk with introspective lyrics for the listener to ponder over. I love the "let's forget we're friends but I'll hold your face in my head" line.

Love the lo-fi sound of this and the gentle guitar picking. It reminds me of Damien Jurado kinda. Excellent imagery, I like the docile bee and loom-breaker lines in particular!

This feels like a promise, but the kind of promise you make in an attempt to convince yourself you have a choice in it, it’s deeply relatable. Beautiful spare arrangement, “Then let’s forget we’re friends and call it off” is a gentle lovely understated line
