this song is about people who are eager to place the blame on others in order to avert suspicion from themselves. such people are not concerned with finding the truth. even when innoocent, they search for a scapegoat, construct false alibis, and flee when they are not being pursued. am looking for collab to write and record the music and vocals. all styles welcome..
.
wafers scattered on the floor
like a drunkards crispy chips
the wine was splashed on pallid skins
sails of pirate ships
you fled the scene , quite like a ghost
across the grieving moors
chased by a vigilante mob
frescos of holy wars
a dozen marksmen could not hit you
one by one they fell
punctured through the window
of a stained-glass citadel
you stand among your enemies
who would flay you like a trout
were it not for the hand of justice
closing in on your hideout
drop pretences of innocence
your lies we can see through
admit your guilt and pray the judge
will go easy on you

Great story lyric. I especially enjoyed the use of unusual words like frescos, stained-glass citadel and trout! I hope to hear the finished song at some point.

Geez, man - this comes out swinging relentlessly...and lands every punch. The 2nd to the last verse is the one most striking for me. Intense but effective write, Bill.

This is a very complete narrative. It gives you shivers with the lyrics alone.

Ooh can I give this a go, if none else has?

A very solid set of lyrics that pulls no punches. I really love the last verse, those last to lines are perfection!

I am hearing a tradition shanty styling... Really punchy lines Bill. I like it!

You're off to a running start! Just dropped in expecting to see 2 or 3 by now maybe.
This is excellent! There's a lot packed in these short verses and I was grabbed from the first one. I can't get much done the next few days, but if you get no takers on this let me know. This flows very nice and bluesy to me.

Bill, I like this a lot. I'm hopin' to put a tune to it but have a bunch of my own music/lyrics I need to get to first. I'll look forward to seeing more from you!
