Feb 2022 folk nerd-folk ukulele fuc
Ever gone to bed and found your brain just won't shut up? That happened to me last night, but at least this morning I could write something down about it. And it includes a body part for the W1 challenge!
I'll probably keep changing the lyrics, but I expect you get the general idea :).
Dear body,
I see you've gone to bed
I wonder if you'd like to hear
What's going on in your head?
You've got that deadline coming up
and that meeting that you dread
Yours sincerely,
your brain
Dear brain,
Thank your for your words
There'll be some time tomorrow
To deal with these concerns
But let me tell you now
In no uncertain terms,
Please let me go
to sleep
Please please
let me go to sleep
It's long past midnight
Go back to counting sheep
Tell me in the morning
If you feel the need, but now
Please please sleep
Dear body,
Now you're lying down,
Maybe you can deal with
The problems that I've found,
The children that are starving,
And needless wars abound,
Yours sincerely,
your brain
Dear brain,
I'd really like to help,
But they're not the kind of things that
I can sort out by myself,
Perhaps I'll take some action
If I can get some rest,
Please let me go
to sleep
Please please
let me go to sleep
It's long past midnight
Go back to counting sheep
Tell me in the morning
If you feel the need, but now
Please please sleep

This is beautiful, and my brain does the same. At least your brain is worried about a meeting that is troublesome, or endless wars, starving children.
My brain keeps me up wondering if I put some object in this drawer in this room, or was it another drawer in the other room? For hours.

Lovely uke playing, and I love the vocal delivery. It’s witty and delightful. Love how you’ve created the dynamics of the whole piece.

I laughed aloud at the second verse. I like how the fun is jolted into social comment in the fourth verse.
As an occasional insomniac myself I can really identify with this one.

Wow! This is great! love how you played and the lyrics too

Very fine finger-picking on the uke! And such clever lyrics, that, of course, we all can relate to, if not articulate quite as well as you did. I absolutely love the other instruments coming in on the chorus - really nice touch. Altogether a lovely song.

Wow I wish I could play the uke like that! :) The lyrics are very creative and relatable. Congrats!

'tis a twice-told tale. You've put it only too well. Now I'll need a sleeping tablet or a large large drink.
I'm never going to keep up with all the #fuc songs. It was possible once. How are you doing your backing? two ukes and a bass guitar< Looper?
( I gave up having conversations with my brain because no amount of please would please the brain. Add to that the demon sitting on the shoulder and whispering failures into the ear to bolster the brain demands...)

haha I love this! Sadly, I can relate each and every night :) This is like a lullaby for adults. Your vocal delivery is genuine and the uke playing is delightful. Wildly creative!!
@kenmattsson Feb 2022
This is creative, inventive, fun, smart, poignant, and well played. Love the arrangement, and the playing is great.
You're off on a tear this FAWM! Congrats!

Your lyrics are so cool! I love the back and forth conversation... so creative. Great hook in the chorus too. So relatable.

Been here so many times! Brilliant! Love the uke playing. I dig the letter writing exchange.

clever form with the letters back and forth. nice plucking pattern on the ukulele and good lift when it opens up with the strumming on the chorus. well done
