Well, let's say I have a soft spot for the antagonistic characters of norse mythology. And who could resist the image of baby Jörmungandr being put to sleep with a lullaby, not me.... ;)
Sleep my child, the world is still the same and all of them are far away
I hold you tight I wish for you to overcome the things they say you’ll do one day
They don’t define your truth, they never care to see
You’ll hold the world you’ll keep it safe, it’s how its meant to be
Sleep my child, the wind is howling in the trees, a lullaby of Ironwood
The stars shine bright, as you will do one day when all of them are gone for good
You’ll be the god of hope, and rule the stormy sea
Refracting light shines from your scales that’s how its meant to be
Sleep my child, you’ll need to rest for thunder’s raging in the black of night
Unreconciled, presumptuous of the world around deluded by his might
The world is so complex, oh hear my loving plea
Their pride will be their great demise, that’s how it’s meant to be
Sleep my child, the world is still the same and all of them are far away
I hold you tight I wish for you to overcome the things they say you’ll do one day
Release the tail of time be brave, set yourself free
Unleash the Tides and drown the ones that weren’t meant to be
I’ll wait for you in Ironwood, Child, please come home to me….

Aww, after listening to your beautiful song, I LOVE baby Jörmungandr too! This is a truly awesome song, Joy! Your voice is so lovely and enchanting and perfect for such a ballad! Every line, every word, every syllable...you sing perfectly! The music is so pretty! And the story you tell in your lyrics is fascinating! Great work here!!!

Makes me smile: it s sooo sweet the guitar and your voice
@tamsnumber4 Feb 2022
I could listen to this all day, what a beautiful melody, playing and vocal. I love that you bring these stories to us in song!!
@ofishell Feb 2022
It's been said already, but bears repeating: this is beautiful. The guitar line makes me wish I had practiced more over the years, because it's sweet and strong all at the same time. Your voice and lyrics are, as always, so well suited to the themes you write about. Such a wonderful way to flow mythology into song!

What gorgeous singing and wonderful lyrics! I hope this is headed for an album. And I need to read more about this Norse godling.

Wirklich sehr schön. Klingt tatsächlich auch als würde Dir spielen und singen leicht von der Hand gehen. Aus der Hüfte ins Aufnahmegerät sozusagen. Sehr relaxed alles...
@wylddandelyon Feb 2022
Ah, this is so pretty and relaxing! Some bits particularly strike me: "They don't define your truth" "Be brave, set yourself free" are a couple of examples.

Love this lullaby! It helped my two year old daughter fall asleep. A beautiful guitar line and lovely vocal delivery! Well done!

Großartiger Text, die Gitarre wundervoll...und Deine Stimme, ach wundervoll. Alles webt sich so wunderschön hier zusammen.
@dukemeyer Feb 2022
Hua, großartiger Titel! Wie sich Text und Musik belauern und umschleichen, hat was!
@nagavaeoe Feb 2022
Great guitar work. Beautiful melody.
The song sounds old, I guess that is somewhat the vibe you're going for.
Well done.
@jorh Feb 2022
The melody in the first few lines of each verse is really beautiful - it flows like liquid gold. I love how you bookended the story by repeating the opening lines in the first and last verse too. Your soothing voice fits perfectly with the hymn like quality to the song :)
@juoppis Feb 2022
I had to google Jörmungandr and yes, the image is wonderful. It might be that even gigantic water snakes have loved ones. Beautiful playing and singing.
@tawny249 Feb 2022
Upside-down viewpoints of traditional mythology antagonists? Yes please. I love the guitar on this. I really do. You play it so delicately and it's gorgeous. Very nice job with the rhythm also, you sing the lyrics in an uncommon pattern and it's striking.
@alyxanderjames Feb 2022
Oh, Joy, this is beautiful! I particularly like the phrasing and how it plays against the repetitive guitar in ways I wasn't expecting. The internal rhymes are excellent as well. Just a gorgeous lullaby!
