Feb 2022 metal black-metal concept-album mnet
My vocals are a bit rusty. Oh well.
Edit: I realised only now that this actually goes to the first week's challenge, as there's a tail of the bird mentioned! No one said it has to be a human body part, right?
Thunderbird is actually a mythical creature in the Native American folklore, but I thought it would fit nicely in my story's world as well.
Väki is a magical force or presence that certain elements and items posses.
Chapter 2: Ukkoslinnun sulat (Feathers of the Thunderbird
Kajo decides to steal the feathers of the Thunderbird, for they have strong Väki. Their village would benefit greatly from such item. Kajo manages to grab the feathers from the tail of the sleeping Thunderbird, but the great beast turns swiftly when the feathers are pulled and hits Kajo. Kajo falls from the nest and lands into the darkness of unconsciousness. And dreams...

Aamunkoiton kultaan herää
Poika alun sekä lopun aikojen
Tytär suden ja taivaan
Sankar’ tulevan tulen
Taito taittaa terästä
Tahto niittää kunniaa
Ikuisen liekin vartija
Tuhkassa kastettu lapsi
Tuoksu ilmassa liitää
Kutsu laulaa tuulessa
Väekästä sulkaa hakemaan
Omalle verelle ja maalle
Siivet Ukkoslinnun
Kirjokantta halkoo
Epäilys ei mieltä tahraa
Kantaa varma askel
Tarttuu ote kiveen
Ja käsi ylpeä
Pyrstöön tarraa
Haituvat repii
Petolinnun liike nopea
Alas matka pitkä
Pimeään syöksyy Kajo
Ja uneen vaipuu…
Translation:
To the gold of the dawn awakens
Son of beginning and endtimes
Daughter of wolf and sky
Hero of the coming fire
A skill to bend the steel
A will for glory
A guardian of the eternal flame
A child baptised in ash
A scent flies in the air
Calling sings in the wind
To fetch the feather with Väki
For their own blood and land
Wings of the Thunderbird
Split the furnace
Doubt does not stain the mind
The firm foot carries
A grip in the stone
And a proud hand
Grabs the tail
Rips the feathers
A swift move of the bird of prey
A long way down
Into the darkness dives Kajo
And falls into dreams…

Awesome! The riffs have both a punky and a folksy feel to them, which I think is really cool. The lyrics are compelling and the overarching story has me wanting to know what comes next.

Väkivaltaa kitaran. The synths give this a nice extra vibe directly from the winterstorm mountains.
@js6 Feb 2022
Man this is good. Loved the folkish (?) part between all the mayhem. The ending was very nice in all its intensity!
@grenzgaengerin Feb 2022
Awesome growling! I like the text very much. I feel transported back to the old black metal times - with a rough and thumping sound - just how black metal should be ;)

The genre and this sort of "story-driven" style is a bit foreign to me, but as far as I can tell it's well done: The mood changes in certain parts of the song are very effective!
@bamsekarhu Feb 2022
The end part is my favourite in terms of composition! Lovely, and cool synth sound!

Why did I listen to this yesterday and not comment? I don't know, but now I'm listening to it again. I like your production. It is like maybe Bergtatt and Nattens Madrigal combined, but not hurting the ears with the trebles! Very balanced.
Yeah I can hear that you have had a break in growling, been there...
But this is kinda oldschool BM sound too, even though different!
@povosos Feb 2022
This was interesting! Very punk-ish, especially for bm. Still absolutely loveable song :)
@nikopee Feb 2022
I love the Finnish lyrics. Powerful song.
@persaab Feb 2022
En ole mikään bm suurkuluttaja, että voisin vertailla näitä johonkin. Molemmat kappaleet aivan loistavia. Tulee diggailtua. Hyvät korinat on! Mielestäni kaikki on niin kohdillaan kuin pitääkin.
@doggolito Feb 2022
blast beat till the end of time <3
I really dig the sound you chose for the guitars. Very agressive and straight to your face !
Can't wait to hear the next one :)
@nilsjesper Feb 2022
I dig it - The opening riff builds really well and I actually appreciate that it takes a while for the vocals to come in and rusty or not they really work when they do.
@juiciusmaximus Feb 2022
Paranee joka kuuntelulla!
@nadine Feb 2022
Wow, that's a heavy sound. Almost hardcore punk huh? The break around 1:35 is epic.This is a hell of a shredding and the growls work perfectly well. Finnish is the perfect language to go with it imho!
