Just a little ditty inspired by a meditation on closure and my recent obsession with cleaning crap out of my house! I played acoustic guitar and mando on this, used a Logic ProX software drummer then used my MIDI keyboard for the bass and flute tracks.
VERSE 1
I see a little fantasy inside my head
Playing out the the fairy tales
and the might-have-beens
Today I’ll let them go
I’ll do the same tomorrow
We are three dimensional and intricate
Using all the letters in the alphabet
Today I’ll let it be
And I hope can forgive me
PRECHORUS
I’m cleaning house and clearing the way
Losing the baggage and winning the day (with)
CHORUS
Surrender x 4
VERSE 2
All these old catastrophes and fallen stars
I might be from Venus and you might be from Mars
Today it’s all okay
We’re cosmic dust anyway
PRECHORUS
I’m sweeping up and airing it out
Breaking the roadblocks, embracing the doubt (with)
CHORUS
Surrender x 4

Very sweet, with great vocals and beautiful harmonies, and a fun, upbeat sound. With a double-win this FAWM, looks like you did indeed surrender -- to your muse!

Lovely harmonies and message! Mandolin is ace. Repetition works really well. This is such a lovely listen. Love your voice!

Great production and lyric, really enjoyed the upbeat melody!

This tune makes me want to drink something out of a pineapple in a lawn chair. I like it! m/

Hi Beth!
Great job on the lyrics. It's tough to write lyrics that are just as good read as listened to but you've managed it here for sure.
Love the simplicity of "surrender x 4". I've been trying to find closure and acceptance myself lately (as is noticeable in my FAWM songs so far haha).
Great job with the instrumentation and vocals as well!

Love the trio of Beths on this one, and the flavor that mando gives everything! And the world needs more flute solos :) Well done, friend!

I'm liking the clipped words in the verses, light yet punchy. I wasn't expecting the group harmonies right away and I started to picture a trio around the mic jamming on this song and having fun doing it. Glad the chorus comes back to close it out. Very satisfying.

Back again for another listen. :)

I can hear GCBR singing this great song with the cool tight harmonies and relatable message. Love the hooky chorus. Awesome!

Wow, this is terrific! Super fun and catchy, the off beat snare adds just the right touch of playfulness and uncertainty. Great little drum fill in the middle to break the pace and create a cool flourish when the band came back in Your voice is terrific, and the melody suits the song perfectly.
I really like the lyric. A few years back I realized I had some beliefs in my head that weren't nearly as supported as I thought. The process of cleaning them out, and refurbishing the room to make sure entryways were monitored more closely has been very fulfilling. Maybe that's not exactly what you had in mind, but it's what got trigged for me. :-)
Great work, I have no choice but to follow.

Nice work with Logic. Drummer is so convenient and great for finding just the right groove. Love the harmonies.

What a catchy song! The doubled-harmony vocals really grabs the ear.

Love everything about this! The close harmonies are fabulous. I really like the rhythm and your phrasing choices in the verses, especially the 3 & 4 line of each stanza. The simple repeated chorus works so well. This one’s gonna be in my head fur the rest of the day and I’m happy about that.

"We’re cosmic dust anyway" I love that. It's my exact philosophy. Cool cut time thing going on here. It's very easy to listen to and great advice to go with it.
@beyondthelimes Feb 2022
The close harmonies and mandolin are fabulous.

This could be an anthem in our house. Truth be told, really my wife's anthem. However, I can totally relate. Nice feel/vibe to this.

the guitar riff is FAB - the doubled vocals is such a nice treatment for this tune and the addition of a mando lifts the arrangement nicely. i was singing harmonies by the chorus!
