I read 'A Thousand Ships' by Natalie Haynes, a retelling of the Iliad from the women's POV. So I cobbled this together in Garage Band.
The ships sailed away at night
The offering faces the sea
The truth she spoke goes unheard
And the lie is easily believed
Blood and fire, walls in smoke
Husbands and sons, slaves and wives
Spoils to the horsemen fall to the knives
What we were is not what we’ll be
The temples burn and anger gods
The voyage home is not so clear
The winds and tides taken away
No one wins the war
Or the battles ebb and flow
Just the way it is
All we’ll ever know
Blood and fire, walls in smoke
Husbands and sons, slaves and wives
Spoils to the horsemen fall to the knives
What we were is not what we’ll be

This so theatrical! I could easily see this as part of a musical dealing with the Trojan Wars.
Are you familiar with "The Trojan Women" by Euripides?
It is incredible to read it and realise how little has changed fundamentally in Western Civilization since the 6th C. BC.

Abstract suits you. The eery atmosphere compliments the serious lyrics. ... I appreciate it, but this is the kind of thing that'd creep me the fk out if I heard it in the middle of the night. So if it's all right, I'll stay away........

Totally feeling this, futuristic Red Dwarf vibes with a primitive undertone. I assume that was what you were going for??? Love it!!

Shaman-Tel! Wow! Didgeridoo-esque synth, where can I get it?!

Prog lives!!!

Great. Melody repeating like an ancient flute with soft vocal and very modern eerie synth worked really well

This is so cool! Very eery and atmospheric

I’m always a sucker for a good song-retelling of myths/fables/etc so I’m super into this. I love the synth part on here! And you do a great job of capturing the intensity of the situation
