The walls are thin in this apartment, so apparently I annoy the neighbors with my loud singing! So I had to tone it down, this will be a quieter FAWM for me.
Is this contentment worth our restlessness?
We’re ready to escape.
You said you’re done with quiet helplessness.
But fear, it takes its shape.
I said I already called back everyone.
Who all had nothing to say.
You couldn’t get as far as anyone.
When stuck inside your estate.
Oh but he said it happened,
that he set afire his pain.
Could our feelings start with anyone?
When we set aside the rain.
But our limits hold the hope within our hearts
And their voices tell us we should never start
Who says that we’re weak?
What makes us so strong?
We’ve all sung a song of fear
for much too long.
Who says when we’re done?
When our hope is gone?
We’ve all felt the pain of doubt
For much too long.
Now we’ll burn with love, in light
Where we belong
I can’t do that
I could break
I can’t hold back
The fear of a mistake
In our resistance is there evidence?
To justify our shame?
We said we’re done with fighting all of this.
But fear, it knows our name.
Oh I lose control and I feel
I can’t take any more new pain.
Could we free ourselves of emptiness?
A spark of life we’d embrace.
And our limits hold the hope within our hearts
And their voices tell us we should never start
Who says that we’re weak?
What makes us so strong?
We’ve all sung this song of fear
for much too long.
Who says when we’re done?
When our hope is gone?
We’ve all felt the pain of doubt
For much too long.
Now we’ll burn with love, in light
Where we belong

Ah yeah....neighbors! How inconvenient. You should bring up your vocals in the mix though! I really like your singing and words, so bring them up please!! Cool song with a lot of space and patience. I always aspire to do that, but you have accomplished it. It ends up drawing attention to the individual pieces, which I like a lot. I like this approach from you. Really good song!

Ha ha i am usually out in thailand for FAWM doing it on my phone and have the very same neighbour issues. but thankfully your voice pitch is perfect and i love the unique aspect of the sparse arrangement. Brilliant

Ooh that intro had me thinking that I was in for a straight piano ballad and then that skittering beat came in and made it a lot weirder and more interesting. Love the touches of synth though this and those pizzicato strings are great. Enjoyed this!

I like the mood of this song, accentuated through your vocals and lyrics and punctuated by the drum track

You need new neighbours. ;-)
I like the sparse arrangement that makes this song so powerful. Really nicely done, with lots of little snippets happening that grab attention throughout.

Cool sound a lovely beat. I like the tention in the performance makes it intence and cool

That sounds like a Sequential Circuits Drumtrax(?) drum machine. Did I win? I'd like to hear the other instrumentation brought up a bit. The drums seem to overpower the mix. Love those string stabs. The quieter vocals actually work.

So cool, I like the mix of piano sounds and dark synth sounds, it's a really great arrangement here. My neighbors are my kids sleeping downstairs, so I feel your pain! Of course, my kids aren't going to evict me, I don't think.

Very positive message here, I like those lines “in light, where we belong”.

Great atmospheric piece with some super lines:
Especially the verse that begins: "Oh but he said it happened"
Unlike others here I am not enamoured of the drums. I feel they're too monotonous for such a wide spanning arrangement.

Those neighbors need to chill and maybe listen more closely to this lovely song. Really enjoyed the strings and percussion; seemed a perfect fit for the song. And those lyrics are just brilliant. Chock full of insight. Touching all of us. I love how it is questioning for much of the song but those last two lines deliver a strong affirmation and tie it up nicely! Well done!

There’s some fab lines in here, this one struck me as particularly poignant ‘You said you’re done with quiet helplessness. But fear, it takes its shape.’. The drums are fierce on this too, they do a fab job of creating the feelings you describe

Love that chorus. Nicely done all around.
@beyondthelimes Feb 2022
I love how vibey/atmospheric this tune is, and the pizzicato strings poking through. Sorry the neighbors are complaining, but that almost songs like it could be the subject of a song!

I think the vocals sound great on here - neighbor-waking or otherwise. I really love this piano/electronic drum combination, it makes this really dark atmosphere.
