If anyone likes these lyrics and would like to put them to music, I would be very happy. Please, feel free to alter the words any way you like…
It was a pleasure to be your clown (needs music)
Who am I now? my hair gray… and wizened,
unable to walk without a stick…
my memories pass by like clouds along the horizon,
my show’s over, this clown´s playing his last tricks…
I think of dear friends, think of my mother,
meadows where we used to play, green hills,
think of tears and joy I can’t separate from each other,
of bliss that did not die ‘cause it was fulfilled…
(Chorus)
Thank you and bye, friends,
this is about to end,
now I have to go,
it was a pleasure to be your clown in this little show,
we cried and burst in laughter,
will we meet somewhere else hereafter?
I don’t know… I don’t know…
Think of love that gave more than it owed me,
of songs I heard, dreams that I betrayed…
I think of all those kind people who liked me and know me,
who I left behind and lost along the way…
And I still smell those dozens of roses
that are gone, but blossom in my soul…
want to thank you, my dear friends, before this curtain closes,
for (all) your faith in me despite my crazy goals…
(Chorus)
Thank you and bye, friends,
this is about to end,
now I have to go,
it was a pleasure to be your clown in this little show,
we cried and burst in laughter,
will we meet somewhere else hereafter?
does anyone here know…?

I really like the title! I like that sentiment - I’m happy I could entertain you all.

That chorus is sure strong. It was a pleasure to be your clown...

Really charming and sentimental. Feels like a warm goodbye.

These lyrics make me feel sad in a whimsical way. They could easily be a torch song and a Broadway musical song by the main character as they are leaving or dying. Poignant and clear!

I love the title and the sentiment. Very nicely expressed. (-:
Always a pleasure to see you here, Arthur. ;)

The narrative is perfectly melancholy, and contains some really nice imagery. Very nice set of lyrics.
