Feb 2022 fawmtronica old-folkie-with-sampler maschine
I'm primarily an acoustic folkie but I've been monkeying with a Native instruments Maschine Controller for about 4 months. I have been using Melodics to help me learn basic finger drumming skills (and assist me with trying to understand that thing that drummers do). I am just now at the stage where I can load samples, craft loops and assemble them into something resembling a song. I am going to try do a sample based something every day this FAWM. They are not polished productions but my path to adding these modern tools to my box of crayons. If anyone wishes to expand on these sketches, add lyrics, etc.., drop me a line and I can hook you up with Maschine files (and maybe midi if I learn how to export those).
Nope. Drop me a line if you have lyrical ideas you want to try out.

I got a Maschine last summer and been fooling with it this Fawm too..... its all a bit mysterious, but occasionally something awesome happens.
Anyway, its all worth it, so cool to hear you experiment, thats where magic occurs!

I love that you’re experimenting with some new technology, you’ve entered into a fresh world of sounds here, I like it!
@dragondreams Feb 2022
Some great sounds and grooves going on here, sir. You're doing much better with Maschine than I am! :-)

I love these sketches, and using FAWM as an opportunity to learn something new! This was fun to listen, nice sounds!

I loved your tag. I feel the same oftentimes. I liked how this is a slow burn and really gets going. That nasty fat doubled bass tone toward the end was nice!

Fun to listen to, especially the "denser" part later in the music.
I used Maschine for a few things during 50/90. Definitely a learning experience for someone who thinks of music creation as a linear process.

This is a great dove into synth work! The bass and drums work well the create a solid foundation so when those higher synth times do come in they are a welcome addition to the track. This definitely has an experimental, slightly cinematic at times feel to it that I like a lot.

A genuinely compelling mix of sombre and poppy. It's like Savage Garden shot a music video inside a doom level. And then at the one-minute mark, the dream becomes self-aware and things really take off into strange new dimensions. Spooky and funky at once. Spunky? Fooky? Fookin' Spunky?
This was cool. I enjoyed it.

I swing both ways too. Folk is my first language, but I like using Logic and Native. Though I've never used Maschine. I like the combo of sound samples you used. I like the really warm bass with those bright brassy synths. Great job expanding!
@dasbinky Feb 2022
Definitely not what I was expecting when I clicked on this tune. :) Nice job expanding the sound palette and entering a brave new world!

You are braver than I for jumping out of your comfort zone. It will be interesting to watch/hear your progress throughout this month. Interesting mix of sounds. I liked the tone at around 1:50 - whatever that new sound was...it was cool.

This is what I have been experimenting with for the past month.On GarageBand. People have told me it is idiot proof, but I have had issues learning the techniques. Finally with specific instructions from FAWMER yam I did export and post my first GB song. Lots of hair pullling.
Loops are fun to work with. I am trying out a new bunch to add to the taxi horns here. Maybe. Maybe not.

Ha. I thought, before I read the liner notes, I like the way you try to play bass and drums at the same time... ain’t that strange? And there you are working on your Maschine. I got one too and the Jam Version as a giant sequencer. They’re great to work with once you get the hang of it.
