Probably posting too early because I'm still rearranging the furniture. It's pretty simple. I'd be grateful to hear it put to music.
A Man Said God
A man said God can you speak to me
And a songbird appeared
But the man didn't bother to hear it
So the man said God please shout for me
And then there was thunder
But the man didn't even stop to wonder
You see the ways of the Lord are unknown to man
We just have to believe that God has a plan
Then the man said God please let me feel you
A butterfly touched him
But it didn't mean all that much then
The man said God show yourself to me
the rain stopped n sky turned bright
but the man didn't even see the light
You see the ways of the Lord we can't understand.
We just have to believe that God has a plan
The man cried God help me through this day
And then a friend stopped by
But he turned him away
He said show me a miracle God if you can
And a baby was born
To the wife of the man
You see the ways of the Lord we can't comprehend.
It'l all be revealed by God in the end
The man grew old and he passed away
Without ever knowing
God was with him each day
He said God forgive me for I was wrong
I missed every sign
You were here all along
And God just smiled and God just sighed
He had always been there
With the man
By his side

I'm not sure that God knew quite what he was doing when he let his creation develop and live freely. Or perhaps he did, and wanted an emergent system to surprise him (eternity is boring). But "God just smiled and God just sighed" sums it up...you've put the fact that we live, taking no notice, in the middle of the most unlikely set of miracles and wonders, while complaining about the neighbours cooking smells.

I love this song! Great lyrics. I would love to put music to it. Would you mind if I rearranged a few words just to make the sentence flow better?
Thanks in advance,
