2021 was a year where I was deeply depressed. I planned out a number of different ways I might leave the world. I also wanted to provide a gift in parting, and this album was going to be it... something of a dirge for myself.
I never left. I never finished the album. Fast forward to 2022. It's FAWM. I decided to unbury the tracks I had and embellish them, adding some flavor and writing some new bits. This first piece, "Tired Limbs", is a composition of the initial three tracks I had written.
There are no lyrics, however, I did write a poem to accompany the piece. I've placed that in the Lyrics section.
Out from the window on a cloud forgotten day
Through the thin screen in the backyard
She sat removed and tucked away
There are no words
Only long and silent stares
Through the shadows of the garden
Through her long and unkempt hair
It's where the world looked most welcome
When it was most hidden away
Where voices came as wind
Through vines and branches swayed
And there was no one else beside her
Just a pen and blank note paper
An empty book of hymns
Unwritten promises and prose
Sing alongs and notes that stretched
Beyond the boundaries
Unwritten on those pages save only for her eyes to see
That's when her dreams wern't choked so tight
When they could breathe and come to life
That's when her dreams wern't squeezed so tight
Where they could breathe and come to life
She'd brush pine needles slowly from the page
And scrawl out a sorrowed serenade
A simple, wavered line descending
Because a breeze cannot enunciate
It can only breathe and live in passing
Like the body shifting through age
And those are the only days she remembers
When night comes to call her away
As all those in between
Have been let to fade away

Wow, this is a striking poetry and soundscape. Thank you for being so vulnerable about your experience with depression. We all experience similar difficulty and talking about it makes one feel less alone.
As for the track -- I was imagining a scene on an Irish moor on a cloudy day. It definitely could be a powerful backing track for a film, it carries so much emotion with really spare instrumentation. Lovely

Very peaceful and luxurious. Looking forward to more.
