A tiny song arrived to begin this fawm thing (all very new to me). I realised the other day that I was born the same year as Patrick Watson. This seemed important for some reason. So a song came from that thought. I guess it's really a song about long lost friendship though. A bit more romantical than I'd normally be, but perhaps that's what comes from writing in haste rather than spending hours pondering and honing lyrical ideas and guitar parts...
Do you ever wonder
If one day by chance
We will meet
When we are older
At a concert by Patrick Watson
And he will sing
His epically nostalgic melodies
Just to us
Only he will be older too
Born at the end of an era

Magical... I love that written lyric is conversational then as a song, the phrasing blows apart and becomes a very different experience. I love your guitar playing so much.

Guitar playing really impressive. And such nice chords! Like the idea of vocals very understated .

Like whispers in a dream. There's so much beauty and wistfulness in these 100 seconds. So good.

I like hearing the flamenco- esque guitar so many notes and so much character snd sensitivity

Found this through the 100 seconds challenge. I like the guitar and the melody. Interesting lyrical exploration. It was fun for me to look up musicians with the same birthday as I and imagine them/us a supergroup. Okay I would be a roadie.

love the guitar work on this tune! somber, short, & sweet!

Simple, beautiful - I really liked this. Interesting chord progressions as well - making me feel I need to up my game..

Ethereal and beautiful Mel. So happy you are here
@songmistress Feb 2022
I love the romanticism here, Mel. And… the speculation. Lovely and enchanting, as always. X

Love the unconventional way you come at songwriting - your guitar playing is beautiful, those progressions are so weird and wonderful. The vocal is gorgeous too, so wide ranging across the register which evokes the likes of Joni Mitchell. Great start!

It's a kind of looking-forward-nostalgia (there's not a word for nostalgia-to-come) . I thought this would be an interesting journey. FAWM is working its magic, on you, you see, and out comes your own magic almost unbidden. Look forward to more. (remember, there's the rest of the yer for cleaning up, if that's worrying you)
@davidsnyder Feb 2022
Very nice! Love the guitar sound. Beautiful.

I think you have a wonderful voice that carries a lot of emotion! I like the idea of meeting someone at a concert!

Mel this is blooming gorgeous! Love the musical shift on the word "Watson". Might have something in my eye. Maybe ;)
