Feb 2022 rock
I really, really should be working right now. Back to the tedium.
2/8/2022 @ 3:30PM - uploaded a raw demo
I’m here, I’m there - I’m everywhere
Challenges on every side
It’s not a matter of pride but still I care
I’m up, I’m down - I’m spinning around
Like a chicken looking for his head
I ain’t saying I’m dead, just on the ground
And the only thing I found to ease my burdens
Is the precious time I have alone with you
Even when I’m broken and I’m hurtin’
Your love’s more than enough to see me through
I’m high, I’m low - I’ve nowhere to go
I’ve already circled the globe
Your eyes - they sparkle and strobe. Why? I don’t know.
I’m off, I’m on - I’m toggling betwixt
Invisibility and the scene
I’m not as young as I’m green, but that can be fixed.
And the only thing I found to ease my burdens
Is the precious time I have alone with you
Even when I’m broken and I’m hurtin’
Your love’s more than enough to see me through
It’s more than all the liquor in Kentucky
It’s more than watching every Dr. Phil
It’s more than all the books I could read or I could write
You’ve been there for me and you always will
So I’m right, I left, I came back again
A different mission in mind
It’s not what I’m looking to find or hope to win
I’m yours, You’re mine - we’re so intertwined
From the instant I kissed your lips
Put your hand through my fingertips and let’s unwind
Cause the only thing I found to ease my burdens
I'm certain it's my time alone with you
Even when I’m broken and I’m hurtin’
Your love’s more than enough to see me through
Your love’s more than enough to see me through
Your love’s more than enough…

@sheslin In the past I wouldn't have been open to collaborations... this has been a year of growth and opening doors I've kept locked and closed. I'm glad - your version was lovely. :)

@bobskyyoung I should also thank you for letting me do a version, since you did not advertise them as available for Collab, but you kindly said yes when I heard a song in my head after reading them, and reached out!

@bobskyyoung I personally love to hear 2 songs from the same set of lyrics. It is even more of a treat to hear the lyric writer do a version. I really liked your vocal styling also. The words just popped rhythmically. I really liked your bridge too, and that tradition back to the next verse.
The hardest part for me melodically was getting the chorus to work. I finally figured it out by running the end of the first line into the second line, and the same with the third line.

@Sjheslin I'm glad you can see what I was trying to do now. However, your finger-picked version was very beautiful... I'd just want to modify the lyrics a little for that version so they flowed with your playing as opposed to my playing (I'm a keyboard player and used barre chords in an alternate tuning to just barely get by with guitar).

Oh your lyrics work really well in this genre! I think your clever rhyming stands out more. I like the percussive strum under your rock vocals. I really like the melody also. I have completely forgotten my version now - yours sounds so perfect for the lyrics!

I love these lyrics! The opposites in the first line of each verse is really clever and effective. The conflicted main character is very compelling. Please let me know if you are interested in a collab with these lyrics :D !
