I took the easy direction with the Week 1 challenge. I already have a song called 'Feel Yours Arms Around Me', so tried to take this one a little differently.
Safe in Your Arms
The rising sun stabs my eyes
As I’m driving down the empty road
Loneliness comes with the job
When I’m traveling show to show
Last night’s applause has faded
Another forgotten memory
It made me smile for a little while
But I know where I long to be
Safe in your arms
I want to be safe in your arms
Safe in your arms
Again
My fingers grip the wheel tighter
As the signs show I’m getting near
These many long months of being apart
Will soon be over, and I know I’ll be
Safe in your arms
I want to be safe in your arms
Safe in your arms
Again
I’m sorry that I’ve been away
For so very long
You know that I wish I could stay
Like I’m singing in this song
Safe in your arms
I want to be safe in your arms
Safe in your arms
Again
Safe in your arms
I want to be safe in your arms
Safe in your arms
Again

Love this song. Excellent lyric, vocal and music, Will catch up will you other pieces soon.
Thanks for you comment on my song GAZE. In answer to your question, I used a dropped D tuning with a capo on the 6th fret.

I like the whole feel of this. Nice use of the hook, too. Thank you for your comments on My Man of Few Words. I think sheslin did a lovely job with it.

A sweet, feel-good folk-rock tune with a sing-along chorus and great production. Really enjoyed this track!

Mike Thanks for your comment "My Kind of Kids". I listened to all your songs. Lots of variety. Lots of instrumentation. Like them all. I lived in a tent on the shores of Winnisquam for a summer. lived in Bennington, VT . for years

Lovely, Mike. I really like the "And I Love Her" guitar interlude. Definitely has a classic Beatles feel to it.
@atam94 Feb 2022
Wonderful song, Mike. I can feel the emotion in it. Really nicely done!
@wobbiewobbit Feb 2022
this has such a nostalgic classic easy listening feel about it. could imagine putting this on the hifi record player, lovely production/arrangement and the song itself has that classic quality. nicely done
@pianoonthepatio Feb 2022
I really love the guitar! The soft acoustic drums almost give me a feeling of bossanova? I love it. The chorus with the harmonies is so lovely. Killed this week's challenge
@jeff9 Feb 2022
Excellent chorus here, Mike. Sticks in the ears nicely. Great structure and melody and length. Just about perfect!
@johnstaples Feb 2022
What a lovely song! That guitar just melts me! Your vocals are tender yet strong! And that hook, Safe in Your Arms, is just tremendous! I have a huge fondness for "traveling but yearning to be home" songs and this one really hit the spot for me! Excellent work!
@crisp1 Feb 2022
Are you saying you played it "safe" with this one? JK. It came out really nice, Mike. Captures what I'm sure a lot of traveling musicians feel.
@onewholovesrock Feb 2022
Kind of a cool relaxing song. The feel of the music fits the safe in your arms theme perfectly.
@mikehex Feb 2022
Captures that point where wistful longing and comforting memory become one. Really nice work
@timfatchen Feb 2022
Understated but warmly enfolding guitar in that start, and the full band in the chorus doesn't overwhelm, just warms further. I've long been off the road, and when I was on it there was never any applause other than from the dingoes (solo in the middle of howling deserts) but that feeling is there and real
@gwyn1234 Feb 2022
Safe in Your Arms' is safe in your hands...lovely!
@wurzelfrau Feb 2022
Thats a beautiful song, very catchy and you delivered it so well, great job!
@the3queens Feb 2022
Catchy chorus. Tasty guitar links between vocal lines. Its also a very comforting song going with the "safe in your arms" hook.
@bnrmx Feb 2022
I love the chorus in this one, im humming it as I write this. There is a little bit of quirkyness to the rhythm/meter of the lyrics in the verses that may need a second look, but overall this was a pleasant listen.

This is a beautiful love song. 'Safe in your arms" is a fantastic choice for the challenge. The music is lovely. I enjoyed the listen :)
