Feb 2022 metal black-metal folk neofolk synth synthwave instrumental concept-album mnet
Foreword:
I've played with the idea of making a concept album for several years, but now I finally feel like trying it out. The theme is inspired by a book about Finnish paganism which I got from my spouse as a birthday present. The story will draw a lot from different mythologies and I'll edit the myths as I see fit, so I won’t strive for scholar-like precision. All the lyrics will be in Finnish, I see no other way with this kind of theme. I'll try to provide translations, but with this kind of subject matter, some things are just untranslatable.
Prologue:
Ancient Finland, before Christianity, when giants and trolls roamed the lands, animals and nature communicated with man, shamans made their spirit journeys and the veil between the worlds of the living and the dead was thin. Here, in the cold dark north, a hero named Kajo (Gleam in English) is born. From the blood of a wolf and a sky god, Kajo has the traits of masculinity, femininity and everything in between. Their love and valour protects this world and also in the end shall burn it.
Chapter 1: Alkutuli (The Primal Fire)
In the primal fires of the world, sky god Ilmarinen forges the furnace. He meets a wolf, and amongst these fires, they make love. The result is Kajo, a hero who has a flame in their eyes and blood of god and wolf pumping in their veins.

This just builds up so strong, really like the layers of guitars and emotional intensity as it moves, serves well as an opening.
@outinpublicdrummer Feb 2022
Just found this from listening to the complete album! The buildup is so well paced and melodic. I LOVE this and it made me eager to listen to the rest of your tracks
@sync Feb 2022
Whata perfect overture! Really sets the stage. Great Floyd-like patience and restraint in the build. But what's payoff! I really like when fx are used like at the end, and when the songs run into each other. I'm very excited to continue on with the story. It's my fav topic for concept albums - and in general really - creation stories. And I've never heard of this one.
@hmorg Feb 2022
Oh man, this is really cool! The atmosphere is definitely set.
@chriscrowing Feb 2022
I adore the atmosphere you've built up here, from the folksy beginning to the black crescendo. Love the concept as well, channeling that Kullervo vibe.
@torniojaws Feb 2022
None more black. Very nice early 90s unstable tape/VHS vibe, too.
@dh3 Feb 2022
This is amazing! Such a mysterious and dramatic sound - your project sounds fantastic.
@js6 Feb 2022
Nyt mentiin kyllä tunnelman rakentelun suhteen suoraan syvään päätyyn. Todella kovaa kamaa! Ja teeman puolesta olen erittäin kiinnostunut kuulemaan lisää.
@grenzgaengerin Feb 2022
That's great, awesome! To my liking. The gentle build up of atmosphere and then the e-guitars start with the synth - fabulous!
Maybe you're working on a joint piece with my flute sounds?
@juiciusmaximus Feb 2022
Mahtavat Kveldssanger-vibat alussa. Sit lähti Carpathian Forestin puolelle.
@leka Feb 2022
Tässä on hieno tunnelma. Hyvä avaus kiinnostavalle kokonaisuudelle.
@tokenblackhole Feb 2022
I love the guitar tone and the melody. Dark and foreboding!
@persaab Feb 2022
Helv… kovaa kamaa!!! Nyt lisää samaan teemaan vain!
@doggolito Feb 2022
Loving the vibe and the progression of the intensity
Definitely following this project :) can't wait to hear the next songs
@cblack Feb 2022
Epic. That guitar tone is my favourite part. What were you using?
I look forward to the next instalment. :)
@claycove Feb 2022
This is excellent! I love the atmosphere, and I was insta-transported back to my teens when I used to listen to a LOT of black metal! Looking forward to the rest of the concept album!
@sapient Feb 2022
Wow. What a change up from the usual Emplate wall-of-sound.
I love the space on this. I'm an absolute sucker for menacing acoustic arpeggios, having listened to too much Bathory in my teens ;)
And when the heavy arrives it is, of course, simply glorious.
Can't wait to hear more!

And in english for other readers
Damn what hård Kveldsjanger/Bergtatt vibes in the beginning! If you make more such exquisitness I would be eager to bleat choirs unto it in the manner of Kristoffer Rygg!
@bamsekarhu Feb 2022
Hemmetti miten kovat Kveldsjanger/Bergtatt-vibat tossa alussa. Jos tulee lissää semmosta ni haluaisin kyllä vetää semmosta Garm-määkikuoroa siihen!
