Feb 2022 arabic progressive-folk through-composed
From a great height
The flat plain emerges
My misty descent is close-winged, heart plunging
Cold wind tearing, tearing my eyelids
I see your quadrate form, field-bounded
I target a low entry point
An arabesque aperture in the understory
I time the gyre of my momentum
Diffusing to speedlessness
Capping my inertia
I am down in the spinney at Tinney
Flustered, encloaked by the dapple spring-light
Beams of flicker heat draw effusively
Lines plenipotentiary and purposeful
Qureat alghurab
Anenome speaks to me
Anenome entreats me
Anenome defeats me
Anenome completes me
Scattering shards
Sublimating simulacra
Sweating the source code
Ruminating the ramparts
Culminating in the curious
What are you called?
How can I place you? White-glazed, blue-greened, purple veined
At the foot of the ash culm
Via the learning of names
I increase my power
Yet remain subsidiary, interstitial
Here in the great glowing of name-space
I can flower and re-flower, spring and re-spring
Corner-side, root-sat
Splaying my wings against the febrile ground
Feeling the grains and nodules of worm-cast soil
Entuning vibration to calibrate your soul
Internalising all your outer beauty
and fierce fellowship
Anenome nemorosa

This is so cool - so unlike anything I've heard in a while!
I get the progressive-folk tag, and you get some jazz in there (about a minute and a half in) and some well-placed dramatic power chords. And whistling, and an ending chorus!
So ambitious - and now I want to hear another of your compositions.

Through-composed is quite a thing when it's this good. It opens up a whole new dimension to story-telling that I'm only just coming to appreciate.
I'm getting Gentle Giant vibes - and I adore GG, so please accept that as the compliment it's intended. The punctuation of the piece with that massive guitar sound really caught me by surprise! :-D

OK, I hadn't read your general notes for this FAWM, and now I have and this is the second song I have listened to, and this is genius. Totally loved this. As I get time I will listen to all in the proper order. Lovely.

"Sweating the source code" is extraordinary when understood as biological.
As for what the anemones might actually do, I believe I saw catalog copy years ago for some variety and it said that "nothing this attractive could EVER be described as 'invasive'!" - Someone reading over my shoulder was skeptical, but the poison ivy definitely had the upper hand, where I was gardening. I was not worried.

It. Is. So. Nice. to hear your singularity again.

Progressive meets Monty Python. Really wonderfully intriguing!

Those unusual guitar lines are magic.
Oh, I sure do love the off-kilter approach you've taken; I absolutely love music that I have to "figure out".
Great harmonies.
So progressive, and yet there's definitely a folky feel here.
So now I gotta add you to my ever-expanding Watchlist so I don't miss the rest of your trax.
Damn, this is such a fine song.
Excellent excellent work.

This is really interesting! Vocal harmonies sound great, guitars are going all over the place, the track keeps changing and doing interesting things. At 2:06 I was like "LET'S GO". What ended up happening was really cool. This was just a really well put together song that is full of neat stuff.

Interesting concept and interesting music! Very free and unbound, something strange and unfamiliar about it, yet fascinating. I liked especially the "Anenome speaks to me" part. I noticed "Anenome" sounds similar to "an enemy" which gave me the chills. Probably other double meanings hidden in there aswell? need to listen again!

Something between Zappa and Jethro Tull!
Bit crazy but so full of surprises ! Great tune!
