My opener.
The subject is a tradition from native american women and women from Chile. They wear red dresses to guid the spirits of missing women and women, who were murderd by their partner (or in Chile by the regime of Pinochet) home to their families and loved ones. And its said that red is the only color which spirits can see.
So it is about violence against women, which is a sad truth. This tradition moved me inside so much that I decided to make a song about it.
Typical for me is that it has no song structure. It is a poem with a sound and a gentle melody in the back.
I used Garageband for the loops, played a verryy simple bass and used my drum and a controller.
Signs from beyond
silence is sinking on white beauty
we wait covered in magical red
spirits search hesitantly and soft
floating over dew and fog
sitting in treetops, on rooftops and steeples
riding on the back of an raven
looking out - watchful and persistent
full of sighing sad longing
they turn into snowflakes
cloudchildren, looking for their home
they cover our world
make us become silent
deaden our noise
slow down our speed
so we can hear their whisper
and see their traces
they search for us
we hear them in the ripple and the rush of a stream
in the cracking of branches in the wind
in the crackling of a bonfire
in the sound of our feet in the freshly fallen snow
they call for us to come home
so put on your red dress, sister!
dance round the fire, daughter!
and sing for us, mum!
patiently we listen to the night
till they arrive in our circle
into our hearts, into our souls
while silence is sinking on white beauty
we wait covered in magical, holy red

Haunting and beautiful, both lyrically/vocally and the accompanying sounds. And the backing vocal that comes in at about two minutes is wonderful. I may only have time to listen to one FAWM song today - if so, glad it was this one.

This is such a heartbreaking story. That there even exists a legend like this points to how impactful and tragic this has been. I appreciate your perspective on it, and the minimalism and loose structure suits the story, which you delivered with a solemn honesty the subject deserves.

This is such a unique concept for a song. The images you use and every well-chosen word evoke a sense of sadness, yet a feeling of sisterhood, too. Beautiful!

Well, I thought that was very nice! Thoughtful, moving words and a beautiful music motif underpinning it. Lovely work!

A very strongly felt, powerful text, and spoken with such deep feeling: you draw the feelings out of me. The accompanying music is a nice counterbalance, peaceful and not intrusive.

Chapeau!

I love your peaceful touch and tone, the imagery, and how background slowly evolving with the story. I could listen to this kind of meditative poetry all night. Looking forward to your next tracks!

I like the idea of riding on the back of a raven, We have just this last year had a pair of ravens start living near me, I see them flying above the house with their deep croaking ... Your pacing and timing is great, and the stage whispers are effective too. The bass is well-judged -- sometimes simple is just what you need. I like how the drum emerges at the end as a pulse.
