My Man of Few Words

V1
My man’s not a talkative fellow
He thinks sentiment’s for the birds
He’s good at expressing his feelings
He just doesn’t put them in words
V2
I’ll never try to change him
I knew the way he was
He doesn’t have to say a thing
I can tell by what he does
Chorus
When he washes my car, that’s I love you
When he brings me my tea, You’re the best
That smile means You’re beautiful
His devotion says the rest
I don’t need the nouns and the verbs
I can read my man of few words
V3
When I think of the way he treats me
You’ll never hear me complain
I’d rather have my man of action
Than a man who (just) talks a good game
Chorus
When he washes my car, that’s I love you
When he brings me my tea, You’re the best
That smile means You’re beautiful
His devotion says the rest
I don’t need the nouns and the verbs
I can read my man of few words
Bridge:
He’s not great with pencil and paper
Or words that sound sweet in my ear
But he knows how to get my attention
And make his affection clear
Chorus
When he washes my car, that’s I love you
When he brings me my tea, You’re the best
That smile means You’re beautiful
His devotion says the rest
I don’t need the nouns and the verbs
I can read my man of few words

@greengrassgirl I did it maybe a bit like Carly Simon and tried to highlight your lyrics with the melody. Once I get a clean piano track down (grrrr :D) I can do the vocals. It is my number one goal for tomorrow. I just love the lyrics you wrote.

Thank you @dukongp100 . I'm glad you could picture this character. That was my goal.

This is really great, love the love language and the understanding the characters feel. I really pictured In my mind the quiet person

@greengrassgirl I will give it a go on the piano and see what comes. Thanks for giving me some musical direction :D

@Sheslin, I'm flattered that you are interested in these lyrics. Thank you for the compliment! You mentioned guitar and piano. That's great. I especially love piano. You asked about the style. Well, that's up to you, but I hear this a la Linda Ronstadt, Carly Simon, even Dolly Parton. (Not exactly current stuff!) Tempo not too slow since this has a lot of words in it. (Kind of ironic in a song about a Man of Few Words!) :) What do YOU have in mind?

Welcome to FAWM! I would love to take a run at these lyrics. I really like how you crafted this song and the meaning behind it. If you are good with that I would love to know what song or songs went through your head while you were writing the lyrics - or what songs you think are in the musical arena where your lyrics belong. Thanks!!
