A few years ago jobs left leaving tatterdemalion towns in its wake
It's one of those tatterdemalion towns,
where the factories were forced to close down,
decades ago.
Ghosts can be heard such an eerie sound,
of the heavy machines that are long since gone,
decades ago.
Now we all know their names
but they don't look the same
Wasn't there something there?
Or doesn't anyone even care
It's one of those tatterdemalion towns,
where the factories were forced to closed down,
decades ago.
Most have left they couldn't afford stay,
Those tatterdemalion towns turn a ghostly gray,
time frozen in snow.
The abandoned rusty train tracks
Disappears in a field of hemp & flax
The remains of an engineer's shack
Awkwardly stands full of cracks
It's one of those tatterdemalion towns

A lot of sadness and power in the words you write. I particularly love the last verse which really paint that picture of abandonment.

Big businesses. Greed. Many other factors I could list. And what tends to be missed are the communities and the people affected. Good write.
