Does anyone here have Spitfire Symphony Orchestra?
    https://www.spitfireaudio.com/shop/a-z/spitfire-symphony-orchestra/

I've been thinking of buying it and have a bunch of questions because they don't offer a demo or have any sort of return policy. I'd be buying it blind. If someone here has it and I could have 15 or 30 minutes of your time chatting about it, that would be brilliant. :)

Doesn't Chris Harris have it Ian! i though he said he did!

I read something a few weeks ago about how to get it for free but you had to wait for two weeks. I requested it and got it, but haven't downloaded or used it yet. Maybe that forum thread is something you can easily find and see if that timeline works for you as well? Not sure how restricted the free version is.

I got it for free, and I believe it was from a post that @headfirstonly did a while ago. I guess it occasionally gets posted for free.

I think you're both talking about BBCSO Discover, which, for free, is great, but it's a different library.

@helenseviltwin - yes, you're correct! Sorry for any inadvertent confusion.

@jlampson I have the BBCSO Discover version, and have actually found it more useful than the (more expensive) BBCSO Core version, which I also paid for. For me, the smaller palette of the "Discover" library makes it easier for me to think about using it.

For a quick take on how the library can be used by somebody who makes a living doing cinematic scores, typically with **much** more expensive libraries, I recommend this Guy Michelmore video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HjOS4AfqoEs

I bought the BBC Orchestra from Spitfire after watching Guy Michelmore (mentioned above). It was only $45. I just used the strings it in my latest demo if you want a sample. https://fawm.org/songs/135198/
To be honest I haven't used it as much as I thought I would, but then I'm not that much into orchestral composition. I have also downloaded many of the Spitfire LABS sample libraries which are free. But they seem to be specific use sort of sounds, not as general purpose as the orchestra.
My issue with the BBC Orchestra is that it has a lot of reverb baked in which comes from the recording space. If you need something more punchy this won't do it.

Thanks guys but I'm only interested in the symphony orchestra.
