I WISH I could create beats, Bill. It's on my list of things I want to learn :). I did recently find these websites though:
For free beats: https://download.unison.audio/bb-free
I've used this site before. All proceeds go to your charity of choice: https://www.beatstars.com/
You can even type in "old school rap like <insert name here>" and it will provide you with a list of beats to choose from. -

I’m not a genius at it but I might be able to do something if I have time.

The difficulty with trying to recreate "old school rap" authentically (assuming you're talking about the G-Funk era) is that a lot of that music was made by sampling older gospel, funk, jazz, soul, Motown, disco etc. records, made by some of the greatest popular musicians of all time. Like Carl Sagan said: If you want to make an apple pie from scratch, you must first invent the universe. Except in this case the "apple pie" is West Coast hip-hop, and the "universe" is the corpus of popular music from which it was built.

@phenola "Carl Sagan said: If you want to make an apple pie from scratch, you must first invent the universe. Although Notorious B.I.G. disapproves from his throne in the clouds. Bill, you may also like how artists use samples of classic songs as components of rhythm much like this song:
