Thank you so much for generous comment on my piece "A Doomed Love". It made my day. Thank you!
And sorry for mistakenly thinking your song "Winter of 1891" was non-fiction. You clearly stated "historical fiction" in your tag for it. My mistake. It's a great story, though, that feels very real.
That sounds interesting that you recorded vocals in two tracks like that. I don't do a whole lot of mic'ing of anything anymore. In a way I kind of miss it. Anyway, I think it give the vocals a neat effect intentional or not.
It was pleasure meeting you and becoming FAWM friends! Really excited for you getting to see Snarky Puppy and Steely Dan. Hope you have a great time!
BTW: Sorry for the slow response. I needed to unplug from computers/phone for a bit.
Thanks so much for your lovely comment on the collab shout out forum. I couldn't help but feel inspired after you guys had created such amazing instrumentals. So glad to have the opportunity to work with such talented musicians.
Thanks for your comment on Level-Headed Hydra -- especially on the song's arrangement -- I'm glad you appreciated that. As far as the lyrics, I don't know that I understand them precisely myself! Kind of kidding on this one, but I often do go to this sort of half-aware, stream-of-conscious place for lyrics, and will find things that just seem to fit the overall feeling or rhythm and just go with it, leaving the listener to fill in the meaning. It's not to be cute or clever, but to allow the listener to connect with the song on a level more personal to them, if that makes sense. But this one had a little more direction -- it's kind of about people well into adulthood who still see the world as black-and-white. Only good guys and bad guys. And to a lot of them, a guy like me (liberal, East Coast, college -- thought nothing fancy, just my home-state university) is their arch-enemy. But I'm not. I didn't make the choices I made to annoy them; didn't wish ill on them and am not their enemy. "Level-headed hydra" was just something clever-sounding I though of and jotted down a while ago. But Hydra's are "bad guys" mythical monsters. And I'm not nearly a bad enough person for a right-thinking (level-headed) Hydra to want me in their midst :)
Thanks for your kind words regarding Snowed In. Appreciated it.
Heya Wren <3<3 thank you for your words about my music! I have been listening to your songs and love them. Really appreciate you and your skills, voice, truth and sweet friendly way. Your message really made me feel such a strong sense of belonging. Thank you. I didn’t know you can watch lost someone and it’ll last till next year! Watch listing you too then! <3 looking forward to sharing more next year. Happy spring to you and wishing you beautiful journeys til we meet again!
Thank you for your beautiful comment on "Meet You In Another Life." Sometimes we aren't able to make things work in this life even with souls we love. I wish you peace & joy on the road forward!
Thank you for stumbling on my track :-) Hope it's been good FAWMing for you this year !!!
Thank you for the love this year Wren! May the FAWM be with you!
Thanks again. "Steady vibe" is not usually my strong suit. It's nice to sometimes break out of my own tendencies and tropes.
Thanks again for the really nice comment :)
Side note, as a proud mom of a transgender son and an enby firstborn, I just wanted to send you a big mama bearhug from over here. Sending you positive shapeshifting vibes - it isn't an easy journey, but it is so worth it.
Hey thank you so much for the kind words on my shoegaze song!! Really glad you enjoyed it!
Hell yeah they're double stops!! But..on a bass I think they're just called chords too :)
Hi Wren! You're most welcome! :) I, too, struggle with (recording) my voice, so I always appreciate someone facing and overcoming their fears. It's a great motivaton-booster to hear you do it in spite of all the obstacles. All the best on your journey through music and life!
Wren! Thanks so much for your super-enthusiastic words on "Red." To be honest, after doing it my partner and I were really not feeling it (might've had something to do with me f'ing up a gazillion takes). Just wanted to say your comment and a number of others really helped make that into an endearing one for us.
Hi Wren Archer! Thank you for your uplifting comment about Lipstick and Face Mask Love and for sharing it in the Recommendations thread. I really appreciate it. :)
Thank you so much for your wonderful comment on Daddy Don't. <3
Thanks for stopping by and commenting on my song. I don't have the menacing presence that the song implies. I'd be no good in any form of cage match, lol
Thanks for your kind comments on "Beyond the Gate"!
Thank you so much <3<3<3
That’s a compliment you don’t get every day and I like it :D
Ahh we‘ll sort something out, I’ll make you a special offer so that you can keep your life :P
Hi. Thanks so much for very thoughtful comment on my song. Very nice of you! I was laughing at your comments about Snarky Puppy. I guess I wore my influences on my sleeve there :)
A side note, I saw them live before the pandemic. What a great show!
Honored to be in the same FAWM year as you :)
Hi! Thank you for your very kind comment on Regular Old Living! :)
Sorry for missing your post about the challenge! Looking forward to see what comes out of it regardless. :)
Thank you for your comment on my song! It's based on something that happened to my mother in law when her children were small and they were out of food and money - she never saw who left the bags of groceries on the front step, she maintains that it was Jesus himself. It's good to hear about people out there doing works like that.
Welcome back, Wren. I didn't stumble across you last FAWM, when my participation was limited, but glad to listen to your work this year. Enjoy
Thank you so much, Wren. It means a lot to hear my song moved you so! And thank you for sharing about your experience in the military. That must have been so difficult.
Comfort with our voices is a process. :) But the consistency of your tone makes me think you’ve made strides, even if it doesn’t feel like it from the inside. :D
"+1 to What DragonDreams said.
This is just so good on so many levels.
Love the message... just love it."
- thank you so very much, that really made my day :)
Thanks for your 10 second clip, I've downloaded it but yet to put it in my DAW. Can't wait to hear what you've sent.
Good to see ya here! Happy FAWMing!
Thank you so much for the compliment on my first song, I‘m happy that you enjoyed it! Also thanks for the recommendation, did not know Harriet Wheeler, but I listend to some songs of the Sundays now and like it :)
Will also keep an eye on your songs!
hey! glad you enjoyed my first track :) happy fawming!
Thanks for the nice comment!
:) Thanks! Excited to hear what you make!
Hey wren! Happy fawming and hope your pain subsides soon!
Thanks for the wave! Yes, I do have some of that nervousness going! A friend, who played drums in my band years ago turned me on to FAWM, and told me at the outset, "Don't be afraid to suck! Doing the work is the point -- not making the next OK Computer" :) I love your influences. Mine can be equally as broad. I love Brubeck, Neil Young and The Smiths with equal fervor!
Hey you’re back! Great! I hope that your FAWM is even better than the last one….
Hi Wren! Thank you, I'm glad to be back. I hope you have a wonderful FAWM!
Wishing you a great FAWM!
ZeCoop, Coop, Z, Zee… so many names and I am not particular so anything works. Those videos turned out great. I always love doing the 4-tracks and was actually really surprised anyone else wanted to do that when I proposed it years ago! Glad it is still going. I just love all the music. I really don’t put any limitations in myself when writing. FAWM is gonna be fun
So, officially now… Hi there! Good to see you back and looking forward to your FAWMing! Now that we know that we’ll both be writing Brubeck inspired prog-rock, we are ready to go! Lolol
Hah yeah I've decided this is an acoustic Flying V with nylon strings, so I can play classical rock ;) I see you've decided to be a cello, definitely not a double bass. Good call.
Hi, Wren! Looking forward to more of your songs this year! Have a fantastic FAWM!
Welcome back!
Hi Wren! Looking forward to hearing new songs from you this year. :) <3
*waves*
Hi Wren! So happy to see you here again. Happy FAWMing!!!
