This will be my 7th FAWM, I mainly write indie/psych/folk rock tunes, but not afraid to dive into more electronic and experimental music for variation.

I sing and play guitar, bass, bouzouki, mandolin, keyboards, omnichord, theremin, autoharps, zither, melodica, clarinet, musical saw, noisy gadgets and then program/fake the things I can't play.

I've released two albums and EP with material from earlier FAWM's and 50/90's, and working on my third full length album set for a spring 2022 release.

Ooh, your offer re: my Bas Jan Bass Jam is very tempting! Would you like some stems to play with and see if it inspires any ideas?

  • @lyricslinger  Feb 2022

Thanks for the note. Okay, will post them and see if anyone else is interested

  • @guatecoop  Feb 2022

Hey there! No worries at all. You again have done some really cool music and are always willing to try new things! I was pleasantly surprised to hear you on challenges, which I didn’t remember you doing much before. You ended up with a bunch of good songs again too! Feel free to reach out when you feel refreshed and I can work on whatever you want me to, as I can work much more freely with the new room. What did you think of your new space?

  • @guatecoop  Feb 2022

No worries! I was just curious

  • @guatecoop  Feb 2022

Hello! I was wondering if you were still going to send some stems? Things seem to be going pretty well for you!

  • @lyricslinger  Feb 2022

Just checking that you received the email I sent? Conscious that it might have gone into your junk folder

  • @jorh  Feb 2022

Ahhh good glad to hear it, the track sounds really great :) I tried to keep the structure quite consistent cause I was hearing a pop lyric in my head…but some of my other lyrics this fawm have been a right unwieldy mess haha.

  • @jorh  Feb 2022

    Hey ,

I’ve just listened to the track and it sounds ACE!! It is stacked full of hooks (the run part, the pre chorus and the one step forward parts) and you’ve weaved them all together seamlessly. It makes for a great pop song - thank you for collabing, i really appreciated you taking the time to set the lyrics to music :)

  • @lyricslinger  Feb 2022

I've emailed you an idea for the collab lyrics :)

  • @lyricslinger  Feb 2022

Thanks for that steer. I'll see what I can do

  • @lyricslinger  Feb 2022

    Hi,
I see we've been paired in the Random Collab challenge. Look forward to working with you. Will start thinking about some lyrical ideas but let me know if there are any themes, etc, that interest you?
    Simon

  • @guatecoop  Feb 2022

Yup. Yessir. Absolutely. I'm in. Seems like things are going better than expected for you, right? I'm glad. I've been checking in and commenting when I can. Send it over!

  • @jorh  Feb 2022

Sounds good to me :) and yes no worries, no rush at all! And as always feel free to tweak the lyrics to fit to any melody ideas

  • @jorh  Feb 2022

Ah good sounds like we were in the same position then! The random die sounds like a fun idea to me and in the spirit of the random collab :) Some people have asked to set a few of the lyrics to music, but I’m sure it wouldn’t be a problem to have 2 versions if you landed on that one. I can always check with them first anyways.

  • @jorh  Feb 2022

    Hey,

Apologies for the delay in reaching out, I can see we’ve been paired in the random collabs. Any thoughts on how you want to do it? I’m a lyricist only so music wise I’m pretty much rendered useless haha

  • @zecoop  Feb 2022

Fantastic! Yeah, I just wanted to give you something minimal to start with and then we can build it up however it goes on both sides. Shape it up however you want and then we'll start adding. :)

  • @zecoop  Feb 2022

I am e-mailing over the files. I mixed it quickly, but I also sent the six tracks I recorded onto the 8-track cassette. Let me know what you think. :)

  • @sph  Feb 2022

You're right, the passerelle was quite expensive particularly because of the import tax. I think building one out of hardwood like David Torn did will do the trick just as well. The brass one is also really big. Next time I will use thicker strings on the treble side: these ones are a bit loose

  • @zecoop  Feb 2022

Oh, they were recorded in my 8-track cassette with no click, so let me more if that will work…

  • @zecoop  Feb 2022

I recorded some new drum songs yesterday and am going to add bass to one, with you in mind. I’ll send it over and if you want to see what happens we can build something together?

  • @lanasolyluna Feb 2022

Phew! Just saw your note. Was wondering if you hated it I had so much fun going down nostalgia lane. Thanks for that!

  • @owl  Feb 2022

Ohh cool, I wish I’d caught that sale, it sounds great!

  • @lanasolyluna Feb 2022

OK may have come up with some lyrics. May be total garbage...

  • @cblack Feb 2022

(Possible title "Haunted", unless you think of something better!)

  • @cblack Feb 2022

    For the random collab:

    Liner:

cblack says: Random collab with w1n. Hopefully they like these lyrics! Can't wait to hear what they do with them! They were cathartic to write (as you'll see). :)

    Lyrics:

    Haunted by a violent spirit,
the spectre of an ancient race,
who feasted on the brains of slaves,
once gone they left no trace.
He makes misery wherever he may go,
and holds no brook with conscience.
    A pathetic excuse for life
    who continually tries my patience.

How do you deal with a ghost
    who simply won't move on?
I know you're still there, Chad.
Afraid your next life will be bad?
    You're afraid. (I can tell.)

He's with me right now and just won't fuck off,
even though he's about as powerful as a nagging cough.

    I named you, shamed you,
    thoroughly defeated you.
    Move on you whiny shit
if you care just a bit.
    I'm done with you now,
    I've already shown how.
    Move on, Chad.
    Wanker.

    But...

How do you deal with a ghost
    who simply won't move on?
I know you're still there, Chad.
Afraid your next life will be bad?
    You're afraid. (I can tell.)

How do you deal with a ghost
    who simply won't move on?
I know you're still there, Chad.
Afraid your next life will be bad?
    You're afraid. (I can tell.)

    Yes, you're afraid. You're also a burden.
    Go away, please.
    (See? I can be polite!)

  • @santadharma Feb 2022

Right on! I'll play around with it and see if I can come up with something decent and get back to you :)

  • @zecoop  Feb 2022

I pulled the individual dry tracks off the tape into one file. It is just one after the other, so this way you can get the clean individual sounds. Well, actually there is nothing clean about them. ;)

  • @standup  Feb 2022

Hey, thanks for listening to Antipode. I’m using Logic, and the Logic drummer. In the “Songwriter” category I’m using a setting called 60s Songwriter, so you identified that pretty well.

  • @evinwolverton Feb 2022

Dope! I'd love to see it in action

  • @emkaydeebee  Feb 2022

    Nice one! Thank you!

  • @emkaydeebee  Feb 2022

Hey! Just checking in for the Florida exquisite corpse - I’m second, behind you. Hope all okay!

  • @cblack Jan 2022

Do you have a particular topic, theme or style you prefer?

  • @cblack Jan 2022

Glad to see you back! Have a great FAWM!

  • @stewdean Jan 2022

Hi, it was a great collab last year. I'm up for doing the same year! Name your theme etc and I'm happy to throw down some lyrics. Or maybe something else like a guitar track.

  • @thelowestbitter Jan 2022

    Hello again!

I haven't forgotten your generous offer for my latest album. The pieces are still coming together, but I will make sure you're kept in the loop.

Still amazed by how good somersault is.

  • @vomvorton  Jan 2022

Hey hey! Looking forward to your tunes / the inevitable gear envy that they inspire :D
