Hello! This is my first FAWM!

I live in Mid Wales, UK - I sing & play guitar and have developed a newfound love of circuit-bending and the dubious musical sounds circuit-bent devices can make.

I've released some songs on various compilation albums but never released a solo album ... yet!

Not written much in the past ten years but did recently write & submit a song to a song-writing competition.... you can hear it here ...

https://latenightflying.bandcamp.com/track/three-blinks

I'm hoping FAWM will be the catalyst which gets me into the habit of songwriting more frequently.

  • @emkaydeebee  Mar 2022

Thanks so much! That really means a lot!

  • @ferry0123 Mar 2022

Yeah, stitching is quite the challenge. I'm sure there'll be many more future corpses :)

  • @zecoop  Mar 2022

It was so awesome having you here this year!! Hope you enjoyed it - it sounds like you did. :) If you still need that bass part, I will have time this weekend... just let me know. :)

  • @actualjulian  Feb 2022

Thank you so much for listening and for your kind words and constructive feedback! May the FAWM be with you!

  • @elesimo  Feb 2022

Hey! Oh, I didn't mean about the contrast in a bad way, sorry if I gave the wrong impression! One of my favorite songs is Pumped Up Kicks and it has the same vibe of dark lyrics and happy mood. But I also really like the second version of the video, it's always nice to see FAWM faces! :)

  • @zecoop  Feb 2022

    @sorby69 - Dude.... you've changed. ;)

  • @deena  Feb 2022

Just discovering you now at the end of fawm. I love how many different directions you go in!

  • @cleanshoes  Feb 2022

Absolutely! Thank you again. Enjoy the last day of FAWM!

  • @wolfkier Feb 2022

All good now. Thank you. Great job on the stitch and finale!

  • @wolfkier Feb 2022

Thanks for adding, but you mashed up my lyric in the cut and paste..

See my prior soundboard message or my comment on the song itself for correct version.
    Thanks.

  • @wolfkier Feb 2022

    Havana sounds fantastic:
Here's my lyric for my part, sorry if I forgot to send it:

Lost My Heart in Havana @wolfkier

Send it home. Send it home.
I left my heart in Havana, won't you send it home.
I hate to leave it in Havana, won't you send it home
Poor thing's on a luggage carousel at the airport
    Going round, round, round...

    Aye Caramba!

There's no one round who wants it but I need it.
    Could you send it home?

Coulda been a lover but I lost my way
Coulda been a lover but she didn't wait... oh!

Poor thing's on a luggage carousel at the airport
    Going round, round, round...

  • @nadine Feb 2022

Thanks for explaining! I see this for the first time and I'd never open my gear and play with electronics. Maybe it's because I have very bad experiences with soldering, breadboard and working with ICs. There's a reason why I'm a theoretician working with software lol. Interesting what you folks do!

  • @nadine Feb 2022

Thank you :) No worries I'm still around on March and trying to listen as much I can. You guys made me stop listening to professional music !

Your song has been something new for me. I listened to meditative music but it's been rather neutral or melancholic. So I gave up xD

  • @adforperu  Feb 2022

Oh you are two kind! Your guitar part was really great, something really melancholic in those chords, it's beautiful. Would be interested to hear it with your placeholder beat, me and @vomvorton loved that!

  • @vomvorton  Feb 2022

Bloody love your guitar part on that tape btw!

  • @vomvorton  Feb 2022

Hey! Not sure the second copy of the ...Absurdist link is necessary, I already added you as the collaborator on one so that we'd each have it on our lists.

  • @ferry0123 Feb 2022

Hi there.... I emailed you... thanks for the reminder, cause, well... I forgot :)

  • @katestantonsings  Feb 2022

    Will do :)

  • @katestantonsings  Feb 2022

I’m so sorry—I thought it was to be only10 seconds. My brain must be fried. I’m happy to rework something tonight if it needs to be longer.

  • @katestantonsings  Feb 2022

Hey! I emailed you for clarification. Thanks!

  • @kenmattsson  Feb 2022

It's up at https://fawm.org/songs/135625/. I can only post one person as the collaborator, so you or Liz should post a song with you two as the collaborators, but then direct people to where I've posted it so we see all the comments in one place.

Your bass notes absolutely rocked it here! So good!

  • @cleanshoes  Feb 2022

I just replied to the Harmony Singers group email with my vocal track. Let me know if you got it. If not, I'll re-send!

  • @ofishell  Feb 2022

So glad to see you on FAWM! Also, thanks for your kind message in the Queer FAWMily post...allies always welcome.

  • @zecoop  Feb 2022

Two amazing songs! I am looking forward to your 4-track contributions too. Well done! I hope you are enjoying FAWM and will be back next year (already looking forward, haha) :)

  • @kenmattsson  Feb 2022

I just resent the email with the Harmony Challenge info. Please let me know if you got it.

  • @kenmattsson  Feb 2022

Just sent you an email with info on the Harmony Singers Challenge.

  • @nadine Feb 2022

You're welcome! Wow, that went pretty quick and yes it sounds better :) Maybe you should remove the needs-tags since you found somebody. Have a nice weekend!

  • @nadine Feb 2022

Yes tagging with #needs-collab and #needs-bass is a good idea. If you use a DAW I highly recommend the VST Ample Bass Lite. It's free and it's cool to add some basic basslines via MIDI.

  • @sunnymae  Feb 2022

    Hey Sorby,
Sending you an email with my HAVANA corpse clip for your stitching magic!
Thanks for "putting it all together" :0)

  • @brisk Feb 2022

Dear god - the song that came to mind (I have no idea if there's any merit in the comparison) was released in August 2006. That's sixteen years ago. 16. If any sobering reminders were needed of my advancing age, then there we go.

  • @chrismyth02 Feb 2022

Thanks for commenting on "Under" appreciate the good vibes!

  • @nadine Feb 2022

Thanks for your comment :D I'm glad you enjoyed!

  • @badgag Feb 2022

    Thank you for your comment!

  • @owl  Feb 2022

Likewise, and welcome to FAWM! I hope you’re having a great time so far!

  • @owl  Feb 2022

Ha, I think I followed a comment you left on someone else’s song, probably? I end up wandering around that way sometimes!

  • @tunecat  Feb 2022

Hey there- I’d totally play trumpet on your track but having a mouth issue at the moment… so will have to pass. Hope you find someone tho

  • @thedutchwidows  Feb 2022

No problem! The stitching was seamless, really. The parts really flowed together!

  • @wobbiewobbit  Feb 2022

cool i sent you address. also had a little brain fart and got myself muddled with US shipping!

  • @tuesdaygray Feb 2022

Thank you so much for your kind comment!

  • @zecoop  Feb 2022

I just wrote a song today that I sent to your sis with a full capo on 6 and the partial on 8 for the capo challenge (which is not much of a challenge in my book, because I use them a lot!). :)

  • @tunecat  Feb 2022

I play trumpet as it happens!! A bit out of practise tho’

  • @greengrassgirl  Feb 2022

I really like your voice and your music. Was listening to three blinks. You have a very appealing sound.

  • @dreamscuba  Feb 2022

Thanks for the stitching. The corpse is great!! Well done on your section and on the stitching.

  • @dzdandcunfsd  Feb 2022

I was scared to jump into them for a while. They've become probably my favorite thing to do here now. Even if the results aren't great they're always at least interesting lol.

Oh and welcome to fawm! Just saw it was your first year. If you haven't seen or been told there's a "sister" thing in the summer run by and frequented by most the same people 50/90 from July-September. Its usually a smaller crowd and slower paced, but I find it equally as satisfying.

  • @sbs2018  Feb 2022

When @nadine mentioned Depeche Mode, I had to look them up and take a listen - lol! Wow! So flattered. I hear that 80s Synth is coming back, so I guess I’ve got my ear tuned in.

  • @sbs2018  Feb 2022

Loved the cats and dogs ending. Hilarious and great wrap-up!

  • @nadine Feb 2022

Thank you so much for stitching! It's a fun song. @dreamscuba surf guitars inspired me. Now I'm hungry. And maybe I shouldnt buy cats...

  • @nateger  Feb 2022

I love your piece for the EXCO! Taking my cat song and writing about the virtues of dogs cracked me up. Great job stitching!

  • @zecoop  Feb 2022

I am completely used to tuning to a song, just from the 4-tracks! Lol…

  • @zecoop  Feb 2022

I can always tune to the song. No need to take time to redo stuff during FAWM… or I can do bass after FAWM… or whatever.

  • @dreamscuba  Feb 2022

Thanks for your comments on my first song, the collab with @marklberry. Mark was quite instrumental in my first FAWM where we did quite a few Colman’s together.

  • @bobskyyoung  Feb 2022

Thanks for commenting on I See You. Yes the book will help you see your own gremlins.

  • @yewnorker Feb 2022

Thanks for commenting. May the FAWM be with you.

  • @zecoop  Feb 2022

Ooh a song is up!! I am currently recording percussion, but will listen soon! Stick that zecoopdrums in the song tags, if you don't mind, so I don't forget. :)

  • @zecoop  Feb 2022

Sounds good! Thanks for the update. :)

  • @nateger  Feb 2022

Just sent you my Exquisite Corpse bits! :)

  • @wobbiewobbit  Feb 2022

thanks for listening, have a great FAWM!

  • @seemanski  Feb 2022

Thanks for listening, I'm watching this space to hear your first track

  • @stephentanner  Feb 2022

Thanks for your comments, look forward to hearing your first song.

  • @nadine Feb 2022

Done with my exquisite corpse! Looking forward to the final song. Have a great FAWM!

  • @skylermf  Feb 2022

Thank you! Can’t wait to hear what you come up with!

  • @zecoop  Jan 2022

Haha... We'll secure the rights this month. ;)
Yeah, Mary was writing her Mat Leave musical and used all five of my drums that year. So, I asked if she wanted more and I wrote six more based on titles/vibes she gave me and she used all of those too! :)

  • @zecoop  Jan 2022

As you probably know, my ZeCoopDrums are how I met your sister! :)

  • @kenmattsson  Jan 2022

Welcome to FAWM. You'll love it!

  • @nadine Jan 2022

Thanks for listening and commenting! Happy FAWMing :-)

  • @scubed  Jan 2022

I thoroughly enjoyed “Three Blinks”! The spoken Spanish intro was a really nice touch. Your heartfelt vocals and strong guitar pull the listener in immediately, and the chorus is irresistible. The gradual addition of voices and instruments builds to an absolutely luscious sound.

Thanks so much for checking out my video and for your very kind words!

  • @gm7  Jan 2022

wow! you do need a break...so much listening, Thx for listening to my little tune. Three Blinks..Nice tune

Thank you for listening! I’ve always loved a bit of a big epic tune

  • @tawny249  Jan 2022

Hey and welcome! I just gave Three Blinks a listen, and I gotta say I'm impressed. Lots of really pleasing harmony, and the lyrics worked well for me - familiar yet inventive enough to keep me listening. Looking forward to more stuff from you! :)

  • @tabitha Jan 2022

Hey, welcome to FAWM. Always cool to see others who are fans of the likes of Nadia Reid and Fionn Regan.

    Welcome to FAWM!

  • @zecoop  Jan 2022

I’ve got a bunch of potentiometers, resistors, etc and will look for the PCBs. Here is a (non bent) song that I wrote entirely on the PSS170 a few years back.

  • @elesimo  Jan 2022

Welcome to FAWM! I saw your post on circuit-bending and immediately came to add you to my watchlist — no pressure! :)

  • @zecoop  Jan 2022

I have, uh, many, haha. I'll edit this post once I have compiled them. ;)

  • @zecoop  Jan 2022

I have all these Casio and Yamaha PSS keyboards and have always wanted to try to circuit bend some, but have been terrified. I am going to try it eventually. Looking forward to hearing some of that from you!

  • @fuzzy  Jan 2022

    Hey, welcome to FAWM!
I hope you have a blast this February!

  • @zecoop  Jan 2022

It took me years to convince my brother @guatecoop and bandmates @kovbleu / @slawbleu. It sounds completely crazy, I realize. By the way… nice profile pic. :)

  • @zecoop  Jan 2022

And now (with the help of @emkaydeebee ) I have put together who you are! So glad you are here and I hope you enjoy it! The people here are wonderful so join in. :)

  • @mikeskliar  Jan 2022

  • @elainedimasi  Jan 2022

    Welcome to FAWM!

  • @nuj4x  Jan 2022

Circuit bending and electronics, you say? Have you ever seen Deadmau5's insane setup? We can all dream, can't we? LOL I'm an electronic music guy myself and I'll be keeping my eyes open and my ears at full attention for that circuit bending this year! Happy Fawming! :D

  • @metalfoot  Jan 2022

Welcome to FAWM! Hope it's a great experience!

  • @nancyrost  Jan 2022

    Welcome, sorby!

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k9u8f_2kkjA

  • @zecoop  Jan 2022

Hey there! So glad you are here - welcome to FAWM! And (hopefully) welcome to the 4-track challenge! If you have not already, definitely watch the three videos that Burr put together for three of our tapes last year. It really shows what happens and how it goes. It all works out and is very fun! Any questions, I am VERY happy to help.

  • @sorby69  Jan 2022

    Thanks @emkaydeebee :)

  • @emkaydeebee  Jan 2022

Welcome to FAWM! You're going to love it!!
