Influences: Metal, in all of its glorious forms, the more extreme the better. Also bluegrass, not that you'd be able to tell.

*BIG EXCITING ANNOUNCEMENT*
Me and @Gordon have a space-rock band called Bridge11.
Our second full-length album entitled "Beyond" is out now!
IIt's available on Bandcamp and all your favourite streaming platforms! :D
https://bridge11.bandcamp.com/album/beyond
-------------------------------------------------
My name is sapient (he/him), and I'm mostly a metalhead.
Black metal, death metal, caveman battle doom, I love it all
I do weird space rock with @gordon*
Somtimes my Telecaster makes me play evil cowboy music.
And because it's FAWM I'm pretty much up for trying anything even if have no idea what's going on...
I also have a drumkit now. Shame I can't play fast enough for the music that I write, but hey, maybe by the end of Feb I'll have caught up with myself! :D
Happy FAWMing everybody!

Thanks for your thoughtful comments on both If I Could Change the World and Sticky Fingers. I like the vision of Megadeth for Sticky Fingers. When I first heard Symphony of Destruction, I listened to it like 4 times a day for close to 3 months straight-lol.
Hmmm.. bass battle against @dragondreams
Sounds good! I'm ready!
To lose.
My mainly things in fawm is kind of set free the bass monkey in a way I can't in "real" music, without any limits and do "free your bass, and rest will follow" -things, what nobody in right mind won't do.
Thanks for your comments on I Am One With The Lunatic. This track came from a preset on my Quad Cortex that I had not seen before. I will dig out the amps and effects and let you know.
OK I made it....!
Thank you for the love this year! May the FAWM be with you ALWAYS
In cre dible !!
Hey @sapient - thanks so much for saying nice stuff about our 4-track video challenge song. It was quite a big task to edit etc - but the guys did a great job of their parts.
A few people commented (and I agree) that the whacky SnapChat video face jarred with the bleak/dark lyrics - so I've swapped it out for a different video of me singing. Much better I think.
Ok it tis done!
I think you have to watch list me real quick first to collab post it
Can’t wait! Your track is fire and I think k it all works!
Hails for the comment! Glad you enjoyed the adventures of Florida Man!
I don’t know. I’m pretty beat. And I’m also currently not bothered. Hahah
Double FAWM achieved!
got the email. on it
If you could send the key the song is in.
And the chord chart too if possible. I could work up something this afternoon
Thanks so much for the kind words.
"Brian May" you say - wow, that's the highest praise indeed. Thank you.
If that is programmed drums then I must say that you have the highest skill in programming. Bravo.
(Btw- are you using Superior Drummer or some such?)
Thanks for the comment on "Flames Kiss the Twisting Sky", man, appreciate it! And yeah, I definitely got a De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas vibe from the composition of @xfloorpunchx, too!
Probably close, I would think. Like I said, I'd buy a copy if you do.
See You In The Shadows…
I will, of course, purchase it when I have spare money (soon!) xxP
1. Thank you for the kind comment on Goodbye! 2. Way to get to 25 songs (and counting!) 3. Long time, no talk. Hope you're doing well!
Congrats on your win!
See You In The Shadows…
Sapient, you made my day with that wise and thoughtful comment. Coming from you, a truly experienced FAWMer, it felt honest and true. FAWM is about writing songs, not recording them. An epiphany for me! Thank you!!
Thank you for the kind comments on Funny Money! I really appreciate it...this was a fun track to make. Haven't made as much music as I'd hoped but I'm having a blast! :D
Thanks for the comment on "Cloaked in the Fairest Melody"! You know, I wasn't really feeling the structure of it until I sort of got it all wrapped up and could hear everything together, at which point it became my favorite out of what I've managed so far this year. And my doom bandmates seemed to like it as well, which is always nice.
Aww I love you guys. Thanks for listening and goosebumping to "too tired" <3
Somewhere deep inside I KNEW that you these :D
I can relate so much to that panda! But now my inner demon is sitting on my monitor speakers and watching over me. EC were not always stupidly catchy and messing up electro... but they always enjoyed some nonsense and now it went viral. Which is good cause they are great musicians. You may also enjoy "We butter the bread with butter" (they sing weird lyrics in German)
Hey I'm in!
Sent you an email.
Ok lemme have a think …
or equally anything at all....!
Yes please, you wanna do music and I do words and vocals again?
So sorry matey i haven't forgotten you. You are on my list. I gonna aim for the weekend to go through a few things and send em out. Finishing various collabs i been sent as well as couple of other things. Half term holiday for me all next week so woohoo for loads of time
Thank you for the comment, and I'm glad you liked the track. Sorry about the safety film - I hoped I might have put some people off from watching it, but of course if you say "don't watch this" than you're going to want to watch it. You're right that it is funny until that final horrid shot. I guess they really wanted to drum that message into people's heads - some British PSAs from the same time period are like that. It's good to talk to you again, btw!
A) Congrats on hitting 14! I'm embarrassingly far behind in listening, I'll catch up soon.
B) "Soup-facilitated millionaires" is a hell of a band name.
C) I'm unclear of the catalyst for Jen's Twine Ball trivia below, but I visited said Twine Ball about 20 years ago, and it was amazing.
A little ball-of-twin trivia from someone who grew up very near Darwin: a town in TX decided they wanted to take the world record for largest twine ball. They did manage to build a larger one, in size, but not weight--as they were using a newer, lighter type of twine. Also, as it took a whole town to create it, they didn't replace the "original" that still resides in Darwin. Instead, both are in the Guiness Book of World Records.
You can add this to things you never needed to know, but now you do. ;)
Very nice! You can contact me also at my e-mail [email protected] :) Would love to get the album one way or another. A Hollow Path is so far only one I've got from you, but it's great!
Got it. Thank you very much!
Hmm...I didn't receive anything. BradLBrubaker (at) gmail (dot) com
Thank you!
Hey, man! I was wondering whether you knew if your upcoming CD is making its way to any EU distros? Or is there any possibility I could order it straight from you? Would like to avoid customs, which are unavoidable if I order from the UK, thanks to the stroke of genius that is Brexit...
Hey there! Any chance you could dig up the past and shoot me a WAV version of our FAWM2021 track Camel Leopardis? Just for my personal use.
Instrumental Corpse Delta is live. https://fawm.org/songs/129929/
Thanks for the comment on my song. Funny you said something about the production, I just finished my Adv. Diploma in sound production last year and this was one of the first songs I've done since the course. The effects at the end solo was just auto wah. Does sound vox boxy though.
Hi, I uploaded Corpse Amsterdam: https://fawm.org/songs/129724/
Thanks for taking part
Hi! I wanted to stop by and tell you how much I appreciated reading your comments on The Meltdown. It's difficult to put into words what that means to me.
I was just about to tell you to stop playing with Lego and get song writing but I’ve just seen you’ve written 8 already! Holy shit Batman. I got some catching up to do with my earzzzz
Thanks for your contributions to EC Amsterdam. I moved the complete part into the project with the other's files but will listen to it only after I completed mine. Good idea to send a second file how you want it to get stitched along.
Thanks for your comment.
Thanks for your feedback. I'm pleasantly surprised to hear a metal head can still enjoy my music. ;)
Thanks for listening to I’m a Ghost! That one was kinda fun to put together. The key to reverb is space, and I almost didn’t really allow enough space in that to hear the reverb.
Dragondreams, however, did a masterful job on this challenge: https://fawm.org/songs/125964/
Hey Sapient! I just finished my minute for the Exquisite Corpse and I was wondering what the best way to send it to you was?
Yo yo will get you something whizzed over soon matey. wooohoo
Thaks for your positive comments on 'Full Throttle Ahead". The suggestion that it could be a Judas Priest song won me some points with my son.
:D
Collab again this year?
Hey there! I finished my bit for the exquisite corpse -- let me know how best to send you the last 10sec! (I didn't see an email here, but apologies if I just missed it!)
Thanks for your kind words on Non-Smiley Face, much appreciated!!!
Dear Mr. Sapient I am honored to receive your comment! Thank you!! You have been productive I see, I'll have to check out your songs too! Stay true....
Fantastic. And i'd love you to rock up a few things if you like. It may be as random as me sending you a piano demo idea thats just fallen out of me. Weirdly a lot of me rock tunes come from banging out on the piano. Of course if that sounds like too much i can record them on guitar to a BPM and send if thats better.
Have you seen the movie? It's awesome! But super confusing, lol.
Thanks for the feedback on my song! m/
At first I wrote "thank you comment" under my song
Thanks for the comment and the tip.
Hey, rock god! Nice to see you again!
Slayer, yes. Cheese, maybe. ;-)
I think a recorder/mando collab has to happen at some point this month. I'm thinking about how well I can mic up the bass recorder...
Already scared myself into fits and I love it!
Ran it into a mic, then into my guitar amp via a chorus. ;-)
It's the new metal must-have. :-D
And looking forward to the metal mando!
Hey man!
February crept up quickly, so I'm hoping to get into it asap. Would love to collab on something heavy. As soon as I get into the swing of things I'll send you a message and see if we can't work that out.
Oh man. He's in bed now but, come tomorrow, he's going to be joining the Abomnium fan club :)
Almost definitely (in answer to the DB question) if my throat can stand it!! Maybe three-way collab or quiz night this month? @helenseviltwin
Possibly. It will take a few strings being pulled, will let I know
Oh, and I didn't know there was such a thing as "listening TOO MUCH Bathory" ;)
Hah, you can count on me on these types of things! :D And cheers for the comment on Alkutuli! Bathory comparison is much appreciated, I might aim to pull out something like theirs again this year, as Quorthon was a good of folk metal, and I tend to incorporate folk stuff again, as I see it fits to my concept well.
I assure you, my version of dubstep was not particularly complicated. ;)
Thanks for the listen, good sir! Oh, and Toontrack has a drum MIDI sale going on if you're in the mood for any more of the crazy amount of metal MIDI they have.
Congrats !!! hehe :D
Hey man, wanna do another collab this year? Been a hella long time!
Happy fawming :D
Hey Sapient, I saw that you make space rock… very intriguing. Following here to here some space rock tunes, and I look forward to checking out your release on Bandcamp!
Thanks again for your VST recommendation! Looks like it could solve some of my problems. I'm looking forward to hear your heavy stuff! Happy FAWM.
Looking forward to hearing you rock!
Looking forward to hearing your stuff. Let's metal!
Hello! m/
Welcome back! have a great FAWM
Looking forward to your creations.
I quite enjoyed the journey. It sounds like you guys added to some of those songs, at least from what I remember from the original FAWM demos. Great stuff all around, & as I said: I'm looking forward to the new album!
See You In The Shadows…
Friiiiiieeeeeeennnnddddddddd!
I had a dream you covered Sondheim:
You sir, too sir?
Welcome to the grave
I will have vengeance
I will have salvation
I don't know that I have patience for a full blown metal musical, but, ya know, let's queue up that idea.
What's going down, bro! Welcome back and happy FAWMing to ya!
Sometimes my ears are like, "hey man, we're really cool out here, headside and all. How about a warm up?" And then I'm like, "maybe what you really need is a meltdown" and then I reach for the sapient button. I believe it's Ctrl+Alt+Obliterate?
Hi Sapient! I remember your music from last FAWM! Rock those drums! Looking forward to listening to your songs! Happy songwriting!
Sounds like a plan!
If you run your mandolin through the Pedalboard of Doom, I promise to do the same thing here at the Castle with an alto recorder or two! ;-)
Hello! Wishing you inspiration and energy for FAWM 2022!
Hoi Sapient,
Have a FAB(omnium) FAWM22
Let’s collab again?
Ahh a mandolin, very fitting for you sir :)
Oh Christ, how I HOPE that’s a real pedal! It sounds too good to be true. Can’t wait to find out
I love that the random dealer of profile pics has given you such an apt instrument to go with your gentle, lullaby style.
Watsss…… UP!
Welcome back..you will rock again this year!
