March update: Bit of an up and down year for me this time around. Even though I really liked my first song, it was a struggle to get anything else going for the first couple of weeks. I think I eventually got up to speed though and I've definitely got a couple of keepers.
Huge thanks to @owl, @vomvorton and @tomski. I had a great time collabing with all three of you and love what we managed to come up with.
Lastly, my listening absolutely dropped off a cliff towards the end of the month, so if you've commented on one of my songs, thank you so much for taking the time to listen to my stuff. I'll endeavour to return the favour over the next few days!
Back again for '22 despite a continued lack of popular demand.
I've had a pretty good year musically. I replaced the tired old laptop I've been using for years, which makes recording much easier. I participated in my second Nur Ein and went to an actual music festival! With other humans! Really helped take my mind off the ongoing apocalypse we appear to be living through.
I spent the rest of the year finishing off my third album, which I managed to get out of the way just before FAWM. If you want to give it a listen, there's a link below. I've also got some free download codes for it, so give me a shout if you want one.

Now I've got the album out of the way, I think I'm gonna take a little break from The Serviettes and do something completely different for a while. I've been threatening to do some Krautrock inspired stuff for years, so maybe something like that. I did just build a kit synth, so it'd be rude not to!
Shout out to my hometown homies:

Thank you for your comments on "Where You Belong" by myself and Vom. I don't know if you'll get to see this as this year's FAWM has been over for ages at this point - my apologies for taking this long just to get back to you. I have an odd fear of even online interactions at times. But again, thank you.
Thank you for your lovely comments on our Spaceship Coffeeshop collab ! :)
Hey, thanks for the comment in march!
I've definitely been picking up sounds and ideas from mid-90s game soundtracks, happy to see it shine through :)
Thank you for listening
Thanks a lot for listening to "Disco Blues". So fun that people keep on commenting on a song that is one of the most outside my comfort zone! I'm looking forward to the vocals. I already worked with @jamkar, so I know his voice quite well but I have no idea about the phrasing and mood yet. Let's see :)
I do remember the Maccabees and I think I liked something they did but honestly can't remember what. Obvs sounding like Talk Talk is great tho I'm more a fan of Talk Talk's later stuff.
Thank for you for comments and encouraging words as always. Congrats on a great FAWM (well, I still have plenty to listen to, but I'm confident in saying that!)
Thanks a lot for your comment on "Fit right in". I'm glad you enjoyed :) ill take a listen later
Ah thanks for the Tom Morello comment! :-) I actually researched how he got the sound, and tried to copy it :-) Never realised he used a tele when recording some tracks, which is lucky for me as I have one!
Hey! It was Arturia's Tape MELLO-FI plugin I used. Picked it up as a free gift a couple of months back. Quite like it!
Oh yes those pesky cats getting in the way! Thanks for stopping by to listen! We're also really behind on listening! XX
Hey thanks for the kind comments! Will definitely be checking out that JATPW and Tony Allen album, love his stuff and saw him live many years ago! Cheers
Thanks so much for your comments!
I just found this

Totally took it for granted at the time. Great song. I'm a wanker.
Ha for real it could’ve been a Chris Morris skit! A feature length one :p Thank you for listenzzzz!
Thanks for your comment! Every Monday should be lazy. People would be so much happier. :D
Thanks for your kind comments on 15,022 Days! I appreciate you swinging by and sharing your thoughts.
Lucky her, that sounds great!
Thanks for listening. The sparse arrangement only with double bass results from the necessity to start FAWM. Otherwise I would still muse over trying string arrangements and Portishead style drumming ;-D
Never could see Rafiki the same way lol
Arthur Lee from Love, yes! I was referencing the line “I could be in love with almost everyone” from “Alone Again Or” in that section. Thanks for all the comments!
Thanks so much for your encouraging comments on my songs! I like music of all kinds so it's fun to try to write / sing different genres. You've got some different genres going too...what's next?
Sometimes people are objectively wrong about things and that includes disliking The Magnetic Fields. FACT: they are great
Thanks for listening to my weirdo apocalypse skirmish song :) You definitely picked up on a couple of the lyrical things that I thought were particularly fun.
"...despite a continued lack of popular demand" I literally laughed out loud =D
Thank you for the listenssss, I’m glad you enjoyed kickin to the dicken:D
Hi! Thanks so much for the listens and the kind comments.
Magpie krautrock, hooray! Good to see you back.
congrats on your release and happy fawming
Thanks and welcome back!
Planning on it. Gonna try something new this year focusing primarily on producing a friends music.
Yes I certainly will!
Hi, thanks for the heads up. I'll be doing what I can to 'hang in there' this year.
I hope you have a great FAWM :)
Hi, I've forgotten how to private message on here! For that download link.
same!! :)
Hey Chatham-guy, thanks for welcoming me! A lack of popular demand, that can only be good, isn't it?
Gonna try my best!
Howdy. Good to see you as well. Looking forward to it.
Hi there! Under the category of (and now for) something completely different, it appears that you and I have both been assigned the glockenspiel avatar. There is a songwriting challenge on the forums for people with the same avatar to collaborate. Let me know if you would be interested. No worries if not and have a great FAWM!
'Back' is such a definitive word, but I suppose I'll be 'around' and putting forth 'effort'.
Ayup Dan! Thanks for dropping me a line, I'm looking forward to hearing your songs this year - and the new Serviettes album you have so kindly provided a link for, in a minute! I'd love a download link please! Happy FAWMing!
Have a great FAWM!
Hey! Yes, I will be around! Looking forward to hearing you again this year!
Waiting for this month since one year ! Have a nice one buddy
Hey mate, yes will certainly be back this year. Didn't manage to finish last year - my head wasn't really in it for various reasons - but looking forward to trotting those ponies out. Take it easy!
Yes! I scored with Paul's Hofner bass...maybe he'll be my guardian angel during all of this...
Hope you have a fab gear Fawm mate...xxc
Krautrock! That would be awesome. I've been daydreaming about that for a long time as well, something Neu!-ish. I will be listening avidly.
Hey! I can't wait to have two Serviettes albums back to back!
Hi! Glad to see you again this year.
I'M BACK! Looking forward to hearing your stuff this year
(Clever repartee)
Great to be FAWMing with you again!
Welcome back, hope you have a good fawm
You reminded me of a task I very much need to do: dusting the Casios lol
Welcome back!
We are! Welcome back. Let's make some wonderful music!
Thanks, same to you!
Hi, I'm back! Don't know what february will bring. Let's see what we come up with
I am back indeed! Are you in!?
We are! Not sure how much we’ll accomplish. Deep in mixing mode for our album. So we need to do both! Seems impossible to think about right now. We’ll see what happens. Excited to see what you come up with
yes! and you I hope? :D
don't think so m8 I'm new here
Hello! Thank you! I look forward to hearing more for you too! Happy FAWM!
Hello once again! Demand? Psh - it's overrated. Do what you do, and have a blast doing it. Happy FAWMing!
Ha yassss, well that’s a win without even writing any songs!
Have an amazing FAWM, @sailingmagpie! :)
Well hello hello! Nice xylophone you’ve got there! I’m going to try my absolute best to get a few done this year. Looking forward to hearing what you come up with too! :-)
hello hello hello!
Welcome back matey!
Word up my dude!
