Influences: folk music/world music/olde English pub songs/oldtime/bluegrass/Celtic music/blues/classical/reggae/
I started piano at age seven, guitar at twelve, mandolin at thirty-five, fiddle at forty-five, and started writing tunes at age fifty-nine. Been a while now and I never looked back. (And I should be a whole lot better at all those instruments than I am.)
This FAWM enterprise is a delight. Everyone is so kind and supportive. And all the music you all are making here is a huge inspiration. I never thought I could do it. Then I thought Well, if I get one tune, that's one more than I had before.

Thanks for those kind words!
Pippa I've emailed you with a link to all the files!
Thanks for the wonderful comments on Living a Dream! Much appreciated. Look at you 18!!! Awesome Fawmsome
Thanks for you kind comment on my unfinished Bike Run song idea. I hope you find a creative way to support Ukrainians in their hour of need.
Thanks Pippa and sorry for silence.. when do you need the files.. will try to send them to you somehow.. sorry it's been a bit manic on my end!
Hi Pippa, I ll check this out with Paypal and sending the CD :-)
So glad about your interest. Lets have a great international womens day.
No CDs know! I think they are a things of the past haha
forgot to say the valentines song is only a youtube video rather than MP3, is that workable?
Hi Pippa! sure thing, you can use any song you feel appropriate! thanks so much. You might also want to check out this song I did with @richaaaay as it's quite uplifting and I'm very proud of it: https://fawm.org/songs/135758/
Hi Pippa! Thanks for listening to my song for Ukraine. Of course you may play it on the radio station, that would be great! I wish I'd done a better job recording it now?! Is it ok to play as is?
Hello Pippa, thanks for the encouraging feedback. With the radio that's a cool idea. Which of the FAWMSongs would you want to play on the radio? I actually have CDs. But how can you get it by march 8th? Some more are on soundcloud or I send one via mail?
Thanks again, Pippa. I think it was the one where I used it for lead bass. The big drawback is that I don't find it a comfortable bass to play. And they cost almost £2000 even secondhand. :-(
The feeling is mutual, Pippa. :-)
Hi Pippa! Thanks for the message on my soundboard. I sent you an email in response just now. Thanks for the art recommendation, Vincent Bal wasn't on my radar before but watched a video of his shadow neatness online. I just love it, so imaginative!
Whoooot! and we still have five more days. I've got a few more that need cleaning up and recording. I've had a blast this year, like last year. Getting tired now though.
It was doubly poignant in a way because my bus journey yesterday took me past his house, or rather, the house where he lived. It's over half a century since my grandfather used to drop me off there for my lesson each Saturday morning from the age of seven.
Mr Beavers will be long gone now, but I remember him fondly whenever I take that bus journey. :-)
Thanks for the listen and comment on "We Don't Have a Clue'!
Being retired and having my own little studio helps with the numbers. ;-)
I've lowered the drawbridge here at the Castle if you want to give it a shot. :-)
Hi Pipa. :-)
The option to send you a friend request is no longer available to me. I think it's something to do with the way Facebook handles deleted requests. ;-)
My profile is locked down, but I'll unlock it if you would like to try sending me a request instead?
My profile picture is a monochrome image of the headstock of a Fender Precision Bass. ;-)
Hi Pippa.
Sent you a friend request on Facebook, in case you're wondering who on Earth "Paul Hudson" is. ;-)
Hey Pippa! Yes, sure. Go ahead and post it. I'm looking forward to hearing it! :-)
Oh great! I'm glad Wibbie is cool with it. Thank so much for playing it.
And yes, do whatever you need to do to make the lyrics most comfortable for you. The ARRRRGGGGHHHH isn't essential, it was just me being silly :-D
Hi Pippa,
I'm sorry about leaving you hanging regarding playing the song. I did attempt to reply, but the comment mustn't have gone through.
The reply was along the lines of....
I can't speak for Wobbie, but I'm absolutely fine with you playing the track as long as it's ok with her.
One thing to note though - it's an unfinished demo which will be worked on further after FAWM.
So yes, as long as Wobbie is ok with it, then go ahead :-)
Apologies again!
Hello Pippa, thank you for the nice words about my weirdy animal lyrics.
I haven't quite decided what I'm going to do with it yet. I'm likely to set it to music/melody at some point, as I have a few ideas floating around in my head, but you're welcome to do your own version of it if you want to. I'm always open to different / multiple interpretations of a set of lyrics.
Aww thanks Pippa!
You are very welcome, Pippa.
I just remembered... there is an archive of some of the Castle Dragondreams "parties" and such available here:
https://fawm.org/fawmers/castledragondreams
It might give you an insight into the craziness that surrounds it. :-D
My email address is lurking behind the envelope icon on my profile page. I don't like typing it out in full (it reduces the risk of spam). ;-)
If you hover your mouse over the icon, my address appears in the bottom left of your browser. Or right click on it and choose "Copy address link" (or words to that effect).
Ooh... the gargoyles here at the Castle are quite excited by the idea of a collab on this one!
Could you send me the audio file please?
Depending on how it turns out, we could also send our finished version to @fuzzy to let his minions loose as a remix afterwards.
It is so lovely to have you here. Such a supportive community isn't it...:)
I'm so pleased you like my stuff. It kinda makes it all worthwhile. ;-)
I'm Paul in person, Dragondreams as a musician. Hudsonics is the brand name of the amplifiers I design and build (and sell).
Wow!
My younger daughter lives just outside of Sheffield (Bolsover).
I'd be delighted to hear a track written about Upper Trendleby Down! :-)
And I'm blown away that you would want to feature any of my twiddlings. So please feel free! :-) And I'm happy for any of my tracks, either from here or my Bandcamp page, to be used.
And lovely to meet you too. :-)
BTW - there is more to the canon of Castle Dragondreams and Upper Trendleby Down. For example, the village tavern is called the Werewolf and Afterbirth. And the landlord is half troll, half human. The castle's staff are three gargoyles, Colin, Norman, and Geoffrey... I'll stop there. :-D
Thanks, Pippa. :-)
"Upper Trendleby Down" is the fictitious village, overlooked by the dark and mysterious "Castle Dragondreams". :-D
There's a whole mythology that has sprung up over the years I've been doing FAWM. During my first year someone mentioned that my artist name conjured up images of a medieval village.
One morning, I was listening to a news report and the newsreader came out with the phrase "...and in the financial sector the upward trend will be down..." and suddenly I had the name for my mythical village.
The Castle has hosted a number of FAWM get togethers in the last decade too, so the myth continues to grow. ;-)
Where I live is a former mining hamlet with pretensions of being a town. Normanton in West Yorkshire, UK.
Thank you so much for your lovely comments! I really appreciate your time. :-)
"Chair yoga" came about when @ajna1960 introduced me to the idea (we're friends in real life too). She has mobility issues and exercises using chair yoga. I write pieces for her to exercise to and use the tag here so she can download and keep them. :-)
Thanks for the comment. I'll definitely be back to see what you're up to.
Welcome to FAWM!!
Welcome back! Happy FAWMing!!
