Artist Bio

Influences:   The usual suspects, Lennon-McCartney, Brian Wilson, John Hiatt, Motown, James McMurtry, Shelby Lynn, Steve Earle, Tom Lehrer, and a host of others

The Fab Four saved my life. Started as a drummer, taught myself guitar because I could hear the guitars were playing the wrong chords. Switched to bass when our bass player quit.

Fast-forward 35 years, after almost never playing, suddenly started playing with a classic covers band that was working 120 nights a year. Hilarity ensued. Left the band after 4 years for religious reasons: the drummer thought he was God , and I was not imbued with sufficient faith.

Since then, played sporadically, started writing a bit, did FAWM last year. I have my Grammy acceptance speech written, I just need to write a worthy song and, you know...sell it.

Hi, you commented on one of my songs a while back (and thank you!) and asked what I used to record it, and I totally forgot to reply -- UNTIL NOW! Anyway, this year for FAWM, I used my iPhone and GarageBand to record all my songs. I just didn't feel like setting up my usual apparatus. I've been really surprised by the quality of the app. All music was recorded just using the phone's built-in mic.

Thank you too for your comment on my song! And no, I did not realise it was about guitars, but now that you've told me it's so obvious, and it makes perfect sense, haha

  • @steer Feb 2022

Thanks so much for your kind words on my song! Although i don't know what "Steve and duck" mean. :)

Oh my goodness - I love your bio - I too have been in a band or two and left for similar reasons! If you wish to musicify "Two Deaths and two fifths of whiskey" you are more than welcome to have fun with it. I'll add you when you give me the okay! then have fun, upload it when you will and add your comments to the liner notes? Fair enough? Which Portland do you hail from ? :)

  • @nobodyofficial Feb 2022

Thanks for the kind words on Murder Hornet. I think I’m going to workshop it, but it was a fresh idea I had today start to finish so I posted it!

  • @boycetown  Feb 2022

Thanks for your kind comments on my Johnny Cash tribute song. I am glad you enjoyed the vibe. I wish I could sing like Johnny!

  • @cindyrella  Feb 2022

I wondered if you sent me the song on my email, if I could somehow make it work? [email protected]

  • @cindyrella  Feb 2022

I still can't get it to play for me. When you post a song, there should be place to add a collaborator

  • @metalfoot  Feb 2022

    I know right? I'm SUCH a slacker.

  • @elainedimasi  Feb 2022

For a minute there, I thought you meant "Being a Zong-Buster" wasn't available for a vanity plate! X-D

  • @thesoundof Feb 2022

Thanks! I blame my brain for Liam Neeson lyrics. Liam Neesons characters certainly are iconic and yeah, I agree, not for parenting skills.

  • @franniezest  Feb 2022

Hi just saw your note. What I do is upload my mp3 files to SoundCloud then paste that link in my fawm song.
I believe fawm.org has an option to pay $15 to let you upload songs directly to this website. I never tried that

  • @cindyrella  Feb 2022

Did you see that I can't get it to play?

  • @cindyrella  Feb 2022

    I responded back.

  • @cindyrella  Feb 2022

Can you send it to my email? Others have done that. I'm bad about all that too. [email protected]

  • @cindyrella  Feb 2022

    That'd be great!

  • @kadmad202  Feb 2022

Glad you've joined the fun again this year! Are you east coast or west coast Portland? Enjoying your lyrics so far - look forward to the fleshed out versions. Thanks, too, for the nice comments on I Love Paul.
