I've been writing songs since I first picked up a guitar 40 years ago.
I have been in loads of bands.
I'm in 'Neko Roshi' and 'Interesting Wallpaper' at the moment.
I also put on gigs and happenings.

    I do like to collaborate, but had a couple of new collaborators this year. Basically decided to agree to any collaboration requests up until halfway through the month (as well as instigating a couple), so I had time to complete them all.

    Final tip for you - before the site closes down (no idea when that will be, probably some time after the end of March if it does close down), make sure you grab an archive of all the comments on here and on your songs.     We are definitely up for it. Need to work out timings, but we're hoping to record a second album soon, so might try to do a few gigs away from Cambridge then. Could probably arrange a gig swap, if you fancy it.

    I'm Dunlop all the way. Red (0.5mm) were the standard issue right from pre-Bugfish days, but I found an orange one (0.6mm) and a yellow one (0.73mm) and they're just better for hammering on an acoustic. When I picked the electric up last night, the red one felt weird and I kept dropping it. I only have one orange and one yellow and I'm not good at putting them somewhere noticeable so I can find them again later. They're normally on the floor among the cables.

    I love your crunchy guitar and sixties garage-rock vibe. I could envision hearing this on that classic Nuggets complication from way back. Judging by your bio, we discovered rock and roll around the same time, so I bet we share a lot of influences. They do add up over 40 years....

    Thanks for your comments. Yup the maschine mk2 is indeed a daunting piece of kit. Took me 2 months to make a sound out of it, and another couple before I started looping together rudimentary compositions. But it is sooo much fun for this old folksinger to make music by turning knobs and pressing buttons.

    The widow will always be there for you P3t3! I’ve found the best way to get people to listen to your stuff is to listen and comment on as much as you can. There’s a strong reciprocating vibe in this place. It takes time though, which is why it’s only 10th Feb and I’m absolutely knackered - too many late nights/early mornings cramming in listening…

    Hey Pete - enjoying it so far?

    A skirmish is a timed song-writing challenge, where lots of people do it at the same time, upload the results and have a listen to all the songs and wonder at how different they all are. They're normally an hour long and the aim is to write and record it in that hour. You're given the prompt at the scheduled time, and away you go!

    They're listed in the Forums, an example being yesteday's: https://fawm.org/forums/topic/12495/

    There are also Superskirmishes, which is a series of skirmishes in a row, normally with an hour between, over a longer period (like 24 hours). Example of one at the weekend: https://fawm.org/forums/topic/

    I think you can dip in and out of a Superskirmish, or you could commit to do them all!

    I suspect you'd quite enjoy them!
