Influences: P J Harvey, Elvis Costello, Tom Waits, Father John Misty, Bjork, Mica Levi, Leonard Cohen, Motorhead, The Cardigans, Bee Gees, The Beatles, MC Chris, assorted silliness, well-placed fury... and my sole guilty pleasure, Kiss (love the music, but there's SO MUCH misogyny)

2022 - Year Five
I'm always cool with other composers making parallel songs from other lyricists' material. I encourage anyone to write their own song(s) from my lyrics, independent of my music. If you need to change anything, feel free to run with it. Since I'm a very heavy-handed editor of others' lyrics, it's only fair.
Arm-twisted (not really) into making a FAWM2022 album cover by my friends @ductapeguy and @crutherford. I was especially inspired by Sean's original intent to make a pun for his title... so I made a pun of his ;)

ABOUT ME:
Spent my wee years with AM radio, and my teens with thrash metal and glam rock.
Served time in an industrial metal band in the early aughts, with whom I played 2004 Canadian Music Week.
Worked labour till I retired relatively young due to mental health issues, then I cartooned and wrote short stories for a decade.
Now it's just me and a guitar and an H5 and Google Docs and whatever sensibility I carry in my mind/brain. Like last FAWM, I'll strum for whatever lyrics capture my imagination (with permission, of course), with an amazing partner (Jan 2020 was they last time we shared a physical space), one annoyingly cuddling cat, too much dark chocolate (probably), and many cups of coffee in the car (even in winter).

Thanks for the nice thoughts on Lazy Morning! I agree that the syncopation can make a tune like that sound crooked, even though it's just a straight waltz! Little tunes like that are a lot of fun to do!
Thanks a lot for your comment on "Disco Blues". I did not expect the wah but it works so well! I'm glad you enjoyed.
thanks for your nice comment on my challenge! I like to rhyme, yes. But it's really hard some times. In germany we say "reim dich, oder ich fress dich" that's the thing when a person trys to rhyme TOO HARD. (rhyme or I'll eat you up).
Howdy, Moon Raccoon! Thanks for Pay Day comments! Appreciate it.
Thank you again for your comments and collaborations/morphs! I really appreciate it!
Hi, I'm finally getting around to thank you for your kind comment on "Together". I'm not in a space to listen now, but I'll be back to give a few of your pieces a spin. :)
Thank you for all of your kind comments. Hello to your cat from us and congratulations on finishing FAWM.
No worries!
Sure
Yes I did just about double my catalogue! Realistically there's 3 maybe 4 which I will commit to memory as solo pieces. Thanks for your support. Had a great experience for my 1st FAWM!
Sarah - records :) (the label) although it's a bit anachronistic with the other memories (the miner's strike was a couple of years before Sarah put out their first duffel coat anthem). Thanks for dropping by, me and the Besson thank you
Thanx for your comment on "The Ghost Of Nancy Reagan".
"Reaganitis"...
Sounds like a great song title to me...
Thanks for the reactions to Second Chance!
I gotta say, "Whelp. I'm convinced" really made my day.
Thank you.
Hi Brian, the other musician who put music to Let That Be Enough is fine with multiple versions if you are still interested.
That would be great!
Thank you so much for your kind comments and for taking time to listen.
Thanks!! I will leave it up to David to decide as I know some would prefer not to have two versions. If he is fine with it and will still do one, I am fine with it!
Good for it!
Heyhey, nice to hear from you, i hope you're doing well! Happy fawming from germany.
You prompted me to add to the liner notes!
"As to pronunciation, I haven't seen much agreement on how to pronounce "were" once you drop the suffix (wolf, bear, dragon, or whatever), Some rhyme it with "where", some with "fur" and some, like I do in this song, with "fear". I don't find it to be a regional thing even, I think it's just that different people settle on different vowel sounds in their heads while reading silently.
For the challenge, I kind of dodged around the question of whether it's really the same word if it's pronounced differently!"
Thanks for your thoughtful comments on I Wanted to Be a Hero. Much appreciated.
Hey, thx for listening and writing.
In the end it’s always the listener who decides what comes in through the ears and evokes which pictures.
Personally, I think in musical feelings. Sounds. Melodies. Instruments playing with and against each other… and, I did not program this track, sorry. I wrote a score within Notion vor iPad.
Edit: the title was actually revering to my day job life and my musical night shifts for FAWM ;].
Wow. Much rhyme. Very assonance. How couplet.
Go for it, with my thanks.
Thanks, Brian, I love what you did with Cupids!
Glad you liked my Collab with Stephen. Those were some very positive and encouraging comments. Thanks!
In Six Winds, I did rend to hold notes. I thought it might represent the wind. Thanks for the listen.
Don't know why the "Reply" feature disappeared for Comments, but thanks for your kind review of CHAMPAGNE FOR ONE. I don't use anything fancy for recording--a RODE-NT1 mike (under $200), my interface is a TASCAM 2x2 (around $100, I think) and for "compression", etc. I use--and LOVE--the Izotope plugins. Nectar 3 is what I use on the vocals for compression, de-essing, delay, reverb. I "built" an el-cheapo "vocal booth" out of a couple "Japanese screens" (about $100) which I draped "moving blankets" over, that I got from Amazon. Looks goofy, but does the trick!
I'm very flattered - "Cupids" is yours for the taking. Have fun!
Remember My Name -- go for it!
Sure, but I would appreciate minimal changes to the words as words matter to me :) and I thought about what I wanted to convey.
Yes thank you absolutely
Hi. I have cubase for a long time. A lot of people around here use Ableton and it seems to have some better capabilities. My version of cubase has poor timing correction for audio. But who knows -- I think a lot of the deficiencies in my tracks are 'User Error'. Ha!
So jealous of your annoyingly cuddly cat...my cats are both just annoying, but sans the cuddles lol
Thanks for your nice comment and for picking up on that vibe. There's a custom here of eating a really long sushi roll while facing a particular direction for good luck, and now they're sold in convenience stores, and it's just I dunno...interesting how we often commodify spiritual experiences. Not good or bad, just fascinating.
Yes, I believe you could do it justice. The tender is yours.
It was a kicking rad song and I loved every moment.
Thanks for the listen and comment on 'Fire Inside'!
Thanks for the compliment on my guitar tone for Trending On Twitter, hard to go wrong with a Tele!
i woud love to hear what you do with last man standing..thank you for offering.
You have my blessing to musicify the track and/or surprise me.
If course!
Thank you for listening and commenting on What the Body Knows!
That would be great, thanks!
Thanks for your kind comments on 'don't touch my skin' - I think your comment was more poetic than my lyric, you can get a song out of that haha
As to blood being a body "part", you can'tlive without it!
Have you ever wondered what a cow thinks about? It can be quite entertaining.
Funnily enough, a chicken is also more delicious after it is dead.
Provided you cook it properly, of course.
I'm in Collingwood -- I think I saw you on the Simcoe County list -- still getting used to navigating FAWM. Great community!
Hi! You're an old hand at this! Any tips? This is my first attempt. Good luck to you! I'm not feeling too collaborative at this point but we'll see....
Have a marvelous FAWM!
