Artist Bio

Influences:   I never thought about music much in my youth, and now that I am an older retired person, I am a keen listener. My influences are a life time of experiences.

This is my second FAWM. I have been learning to play a mandolin for the past 6 years from online sources,. Thus the mandolinda name. I also started songwriting at the beginning of COVID to pass the time.
I continue to learn new techniques. During 50/90 2021, I made a multiple track song, and I have set a goal to use GarageBand during FAWM.
Added Feb. 23. I have been overjoyed this FAWM to attempt many new techniques. This selection of songs have been an adventure into music making. I do have some ️favorites, but I like them all. I hope you enjoy as well.
I also quilt. A lot. https://youtube.com/c/MsLindaMielke

Thanks for the comment Linda. It's not my shop, I just stole the name because it's my name too. (When we moved here, people kept asking if I was 'one of the Whitby Hornes' because they've largely died out. Sadly not.)

  • @coolparadiso  Mar 2022

I have only come across one of those but it is someone you have collabed with. I have done maybe 100 collabs and as i say only once has that happened.

  • @coolparadiso  Mar 2022

Following your comment in the forum heres some info. Most people when they put music to lyrics put it up as a separate song, don't just add the music. Sure it shows twice on your list but it means it comes back up as a new song in the list and on everyones watch list. Most people i know do that.

  • @nancycunning  Mar 2022

Hi, Linda - your post saying you’d be willing to have a song on @coolparadiso ’s podcast made me brave enough to do the same. Thanks for that. Is there a forum that mentions songs that ought to have more listens? Could you point me to that one and the recommendations forum? You also mentioned you were thinking about what stuff you could do to become an even better songwriter before 50/90 and next FAWM. If you’re thinking about books and videos, I’d be happy to share some of the things I’ve liked a lot. Maybe we could even start another Forum thread. Thanks so much for helping to make this such a welcoming place.

  • @papaooo  Feb 2022

Hi, Mandolinda, regarding the Dishwasher Round, I hear it as a cappella, but I may rework it into something else.

  • @andrea  Feb 2022

Absolutely! I am proud of our song. I love that you will have it on your page :) Thanks

  • @andrea  Feb 2022

Hi Linda, Thanks for your interest in Sticky Fingers. Sorry, but I already have a collaborator.
Not sure how I have missed your posts. I am going to listen to some now.

  • @bjunker  Feb 2022

Thanks for the kind words on Enough!

  • @crutherford  Feb 2022

i tend to agree that second what ifs don't really get you anywhere irl - but in a skirmish they can be liquid gold :)

  • @robheron1  Feb 2022

Hi! I listened to the Opossum. Good pickin' and grinnin' right there! I like zecoop. You should give a listen ... not old tyme or bluegrass though.

  • @sw1n3flu  Feb 2022

Thanks for the comments on hit delete :)

Yeah I know what you mean about vox being a little soft… I got the positioning of the iPhone wrong

  • @jeff9  Feb 2022

Thank you, dear, for the kind words about "The Waltz" and those fine lyrics by @donna

  • @papaooo  Feb 2022

Thank you for busting my Zong. I too am a second time FAWMer.

  • @slightlydrunk  Feb 2022

Thank you for your kind comment! The feeling is mutual: I'm envious of all of you great instrumentalists. :)

  • @apolez3  Feb 2022

Hello; me too! I'd like to start on the weekend or at least after I finish...submitting an online application as it has a deadline...which is Friday... Though If you would like to think of & ponder a topic that you would like me to elaborate on through lyrics; if not I'll just wing it~ *pretty much already having an idea to go off of; though I'll leave it up 2 u.

  • @franniezest  Feb 2022

Thanks so much for your comments on Demon!

  • @bjunker  Feb 2022

Thanks for the kind words on Weather Report! It's always fun to set @hummingbear's works to music!

  • @slusk Feb 2022

Thanks for listening and commenting. I agree that Procrastination is easier listening. Not being a native English speaker it’s a bit hard for me to write meaningful lyrics in English so I don’t know where this is going.

  • @kahlo2013  Feb 2022

Added you! Looking forward to it! L

  • @tsunamidaily Feb 2022

    check your email!

  • @raspberry33  Feb 2022

Thanks for your kind review of "Explain to Me". https://fawm.org/songs/129826/ I'm guessing we're not the only ones out there struggling through password hell!

  • @jtsteam  Feb 2022

Thanks for your comment! More ukes are always better :).

  • @quork  Feb 2022

Thank you so much for listening and commenting!

    on it!

  • @kahlo2013  Feb 2022

That would be lovely, thank you! And I need to catch up on your other songs!

  • @nadine Feb 2022

Thanks a lot for your comment! The song is still in development and I have a good feeling about it :)

  • @tsunamidaily Feb 2022

hey! we are paired in the random collab, round 2.
is there a phrase you have in your head, or a story-- true or not-- you would like realized in lyrics? that has yielded some of my best collaborations over the years. just a thought.
    hit me back.

  • @elesimo  Feb 2022

I loved our collab, Linda! You gave such life to the lyrics, I'm in awe. Thank you so much for collaborating with me!

  • @zecoop  Feb 2022

Hahaha.... Hey, avoid the tape loops!! I promise my other stuff isn't ANYTHING like those. My wife *hates* them. ;)

  • @dragondreams  Feb 2022

Hi Linda! So sorry it's taken me a while to drop by.
thanks for your lovely comments! :-)

  • @elesimo  Feb 2022

Hi, Linda! I'm happy with you posting the song as soon as it's recorded, your songs are beautiful so I don't need to listen to it before. :)

Maybe it's better to post is after we have the demo, so we get comments on not just the lyrics? Otherwise if I create the song now people might comment and not come back after we have the demo.

    Looking forward to it!

  • @gwyn1234  Feb 2022

Many, many thanks for the listens and your kind and encouraging words...

  • @robheron1  Feb 2022

Ps: I had a Les Paul standard but I never liked it. Traded for a Strat.

  • @robheron1  Feb 2022

Hi Linda...that's what I'm doing too. Just the Singwriting weekend. David Francey was amazing. The new instructors should have something to teach us. Enjoy FAWM! Great community!

  • @serene123  Feb 2022

Yes so inspiring to see you are experimenting.. I need to do the same!

  • @tukayandryan  Feb 2022

Thank you for your lovely comments on 'Temporal Drifter'.

  • @nadine Feb 2022

Thanks for your comment on "Diplomacy". Yes, these are all plugins. I tried to play along but 163 BPM hurt in my wrist and the acoustic guitar didn't sound good. Maybe I record something with my real guiar soon though I can't play well yet.

  • @elesimo  Feb 2022

Have a great flight, Linda, and enjoy your time there! No need to rush with our song, take your time.

  • @elesimo  Feb 2022

I sent you an email with some tentative lyrics for our collaboration, Linda!

  • @jeff9  Feb 2022

Thanks for dropping in on "What About Me" and the very kind words.

Yay!! That's great news! I hope you have a great FAWM!

  • @elesimo  Jan 2022

Hi, there! For the random collaboration I was planning to send you some lyrics, would that work for you? Otherwise I can also write an instrumental, if you prefer that.

  • @yam655  Jan 2022

Hopefully I've given you enough hints that you'll be able to figure it out. Things can be so tricky when you're learning new things.

  • @billwhite51 Jan 2022

    ready, steady ....GO!

  • @elesimo  Jan 2022

Hi, there! We're doing the #random collaboration together! Excited to make a song with you! :)

  • @metalfoot  Jan 2022

No requirements that you play guitar and no rush on the collab either. Just noticed we had the same avatar and we've worked together before so thought it might work for that challenge!

  • @freddie13 Jan 2022

getting ready... can't upload my album cover???
    happy song writing.

  • @dedrood  Jan 2022
