My name is Ashley Brewer. FAWM 2022 is FAWM number 7!! She/her/hers
Guitar, piano, uke, mandolin, autoharp, occasional beeps and boops. Voice of an angel who's seen some sh*t.
I had a baby in August! She's my first and likely only! She's the best and I'm obsessed with her but probably only need to do this once! Expect lots of mom rock from me now, regardless!
Love to collab! Some of my fav FAWM work has been collabs. Last year was my collabiest year and I had THE most fun. Hit me up! But seriously, please do; with said baby I'm not sure I'll make it over the finish line otherwise.
Things that are on my mind going into FAWM (besides my baby): Most years, there's some piece of media that's captured my attention such that I write one or a series of songs inspired by it. Last year it was "Ulysses," two years ago it was "Big Little Lies, " another it was "Middlemarch." This year, while on maternity leave August-Decemberish, I binged all of The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine, so, uh, it's Star Trek!
Thematically, I've also been thinking a lot about the interiority of human experience and the near impossibility of truly understanding what another person finds meaningful, and the implications therein for art and connection.
ANYWAY! Along with the usual suspects, I am armed this year with a whole bunch of new auxiliary percussion, a new (to me) upright piano and I've finally optimized my tablet for audio recording: LET'S GOOOOO.

Your words, my words, your music, my music, what do you think? I keep doing music first then writing some random verbal crap to go over it. FYI, for your Audiobox issue, I might recommend trying a preamp BEFORE the interface... even just a cheap mixer to boost the signal. My neighbor had the same issue with his Audiobox, and he parked a small Behringer mixer in front of it and it mostly solved his problem by boosting the signal before it hit the interface. Your mileage may vary, but it helped him.
