Ukulele plinker. If I accidentally give the impression I know what I'm doing, it's probably just an overdub. Slowly discovering what kind of songs I like to write, and it's basically nerdy folk songs. I'm okay with that.
I thought it would be fun to try writing songs. So in the last couple of years I've read books about songwriting, watched videos about songwriting, listened to podcasts about songwriting, read blogs about songwriting. Everything except actual songwriting. So this year, I though I'd get on with it.
I managed a couple in January and had enormous fun in the process. Might as well jump in at the deep end.
Thanks for the tips. I just joined the Ukulele Underground site (username Beacon) as both you and Berni are on there and I've heard good things. Can you tell me where I should be checking out?
Actually, I'm most interested in what you're doing with your right hand fingerpicking. I listened and couldn't figure out the pattern.
Thanks a lot for your kind words on "She's Contemplating". It's been fun to try something out of my comfort zone (= full band composition compositing, production), but I'm not able to record this on my own cause I don't have proper microphones and I still feel I need 1-2 years until my picking sounds clean enough to record. @wacha will record this song for real in some months, so this will sound better :-)
Hi, JT Steam (cool name) - hope you're having a good first FAWM!
Funny on the recommendation of 22 seconds long for my 2/22/22 song. It actually is 33 seconds long which works for my final line about 3/33/33 :-)
Absolutely. I signed for 50/90 just to be in the community. My goal was 5-10 songs in 3 months. I ended up with more, but it definitely wasn't the same pace as FAWM. It's much more relaxed, but supportive.
Edwin, just to let you know, March is been declared March Album Listening Month (MALM) to listen to all the music you couldn't do in February. I also think you're a prime candidate for 50 Songs in 90 Days, which goes 4 July to 1 October (and you don't have to write 50 songs to be a part of it). I did 15 last year and it's a bit more relaxed, but with the same great (but smaller) community.
Northern Arkansas is pretty. I lived near the Buffalo River.
Felicitats from Catalunya at getting to the finish line at the halfway point in your first FAWM.
Have you tried a skirmish yet. It's incredible how your inner songwriter goes into overdrive on those.
PS I forgot to put you on my Watchlist. Just rectified that now.
Congrats on your FAWM win! I'm still only halfway there. We'll see what happens.
yes station staff no longer exist here in oz either - you're having a great fawm!
Thanks so much for un-zonging Bubbles. I'm glad it got you laughing. We had so much fun recording and mixing it. So many laugh out loud WTF moments! :P
Flippin’ ‘eck matey - I turn my back for a few minutes (okay then, days), and you’ve gawn and written all these songs! You’ve progressed from neophyte songwriter to journeyman songwriter in the blink of an eye! Bloody well done! :-)
Glad you liked my Bricklayer from Leith. And thanks for the generous assessment of my Scots accent :-)
Thanks so much for your comment on "At The Ocean." Hope you're having a great FAWM!
Hiya! Thanks for your comments on "Before and After". Really glad you picked up on the 33/45 bit- I was pleased when that fell together nicely. Appreciate you taking the time to give feedback. x
Thank you for your feedback, greatly appreciated.
Thanks for checking out my song! Haha, I figured having "zombies" in the title would be eye-catching, glad you enjoyed it
Thank you so much for commenting on Ray's Song! Really appreciate it!
You are on fire. 6 songs on day 4? And all of them have decent recordings? Kudos. I'm just impressed and wanted to say something. XD
Glad you liked my "Punch Bowl".
Most musicians (myself included till last week) look down their nose at arranger keyboards. But this one has proved it will be useful for quickly coming up with an arrangement. At one finger per Major and two per minor chords, it's even quicker than Band in a Box at arranging.
Thank you for your kind comments on my song! Have you guessed yet?
Hi! Thanks for your kind comment on my song "Dear Little Me." It's very encouraging. :)
Hey!! Thanks for commenting on my Stylophone Song! Welcome to FAWM!! I'm going to delve into your 'Sincerely, Your Brain' song first :) I hope you have a wonderful time here.
"If I get half a non-terrible song out of this I'll consider it a success :)." Yeah? well, listening right now you'll have to count it a double success because there's at least one totally non-terrible song here. I know 'cos I'm hearing it!
Hey, great to see you here my good man! Glad you liked my opening salvo. The wind instrument is not a recorder; it's an Irish "Tin" whistle made by "Wild Irish Whistles" - sold by McNally in Ireland.
It will happen this month. Just accept that you're going to be distracted for a month.
Welcome fellow ukulele player! You seem like you're off to a great start here!
Heyhey, ich finde dein Deutsch ist schon sehr gut:-) Viel Spaß beim Famw-uar, nicht Februar :-)

Thanks for your lovely comment. Lernst du gerade Deutsch mit Duolingo? :-) Practise your German on me any time!
Welcome! Happy to have you here. Did you find the forum post “Uke players stand up and be counted”? That would be a great place for you to get acquainted. ;)
Welcome! Hope you have fun in your first Fawm!
Remember world ukulele day Feb 2nd!! Mark your songs #fuc (Fawm Ukulele Club) to flag the rest of us re-entrant types!
Welcome! You seem to be doing way more than plinking the uke in the soundcloud tracks, lol. Sounded pretty good to me. :) Have an awesome FAWM.
Welcome, and happy FAWMing!
Welcome to FAWM!!!
Welcome to FAWM! You are going to love it, I think. Jump in a meet some of the people here. :)
