Artist Bio

Influences:   Noah Guthrie, Rhett Shull, Peter Honore, MJ Hibbert, Jeff Lewis, The Stone Roses, Jack White, Seasick Steve, Hammel On Trial, Major Matt Mason USA, Bobby McGee's, Black Keys, Mary Spender

Guitarist who's accidently (reluctantly) become a singer songwriter having taken part in the Rhett Shull Green Room Challenges in 2019 and 2020.

I'm hoping to release an all original songs EP in 2022 (was 2021 but then deleted it all and started again) under the moniker "The Peoples Republic of Jim", which is supposed to be a dynamic line-up collaboration to hang any music I do that doesn't belong to any other project, with the only consent being my involvement,

Also finding myself really getting into the production/mixing/mastering side of things as well.

A big challenge I've planned for 2023, is return to live performing, having not played live since 2002, and never solo or singing. I'm hoping FAWM 2022 and 2023 will provide at least some of the songs!

As for FAWM, been lurking on here since 2011 admiring others work (and commenting on plenty of them) but never quite plucking up the nerve to post anything.

Then in 2021 I made my first contributions. . . all two of them.

Let’s see if I can do any better in 2021.

Thanks for your nice comment on Fromage de Tête, cool songs you have here. I've had health issues in the past involving not playing the guitar for a whole year, and it's been difficult in the beginning, but in the end because I had to redefine and relearn my playing I think it made me a better musician in the end, so keep it up!

Top job on the 4-track collab Jim! Thanks for your hard work. I can't believe how incredible the finished product sounds!

Thanks Jim! You're a brave man for attempting to sit through my white noise exploits once, let alone twice! :D

p.s. thanks for the nice "vibe" comments re the Tuareg-inspired song too.

Hey Jim! Thanks for all the feedback on my songs. I feel like I'm kind of dropping these things into the void sometimes, so I'm glad you took the time to hear them and write back. I'm burning through my voice memo ideas at this point, but if I'm writing next year I'll be happy to collaborate.

Hey, thanks for your comment on Ray’s song - borrowing children is a great idea (not least because you can then give them back ha ha!)

  • @sorby69  Feb 2022

Hey Jim! Thanks for your kind words on my first FAWM song! Don't worry - I think that was a one-off, production-wise; my 4-track challenge contributions will be much more, erm, modest :)

    Thanks!

Hey thanks for your comment on the Toothpaste song! If you’re gonna get your uke out, today’s the day to do it! (World play your uke day or something??!)
