I’ve got more to listen to! I’m excited!
Hi Justin,
just a note to say the music is finally up for my silly LOVE song.
https://fawm.org/songs/136376/
Thanks dude! Really appreciate the kind words! I love rapping but never really considered myself to be very good at it so I appreciate the compliment! And thanks for pointing out the guitar harmonized outro bit of quality of life, it was ridiculous but fun to play!
Thanks for those super kind words, Justin. You know how I feel about you as a musician, so coming from you those words mean a ton. I'm sitting here in Baku, wanting to cry about Ukraine, and suffering from an allergy to God-knows-what that has made my eyes red and puffy and caused my nose to gush a Nile of snot, but thanks to you I'm now smiling.
It's gonna happen. Needs to. I'm in Mattawan, but Kzoo is close enough. ;)
I find myself over that way fairly often (in-laws in Howell/Fowlerville) and hey...... I am retired! ;)
I can't even express my thanks to you for listening and commenting, but my biggest thanks go to Liz who wrote lyrics that made me break down about 30 times today. :D
Howdy! I sent you an email, Just in case it went to spam/junk.
Thank you for the listen to my tunes, and the kind words. They have made my night. I appreciate our mutual admiration society, and look forward to hearing what you get up to next!
Justin, I am so thankful to have found your page! Sorry to seem stalker-ish and run right through all of them, but after hearing the first one, I couldn't help myself. I am a fan.
Also, thanks for your chiming in on the queer FAWMily forum post. Allies always appreciated.
Thanks for the comment on The Woodsman, The Big Pink is right up there in my favourite albums, but… am I allowed to say this… I prefer The Band album. Cripple Creek and Dixie and Across the Great Divide... But actually now I’m remembering Big Pink has The Weight so… argh, what a great group hey!!
Thanks so much. I really appreciate it!
Howdy, the good major(majormajormajor) reminds me a bit of you, in that he can do it all: sing, record, play multiple instruments, write great songs. His tune about putting all the thing on all the tracks is pretty amazing :)
Thank you, dude. Your comment made my night! Those are all qualities I hope to express through my music. Much appreciated :)
In the spirit of brotherhood (I usually don't have anything to do with Ann Arbor, OSU Class of '63) have a go at Snowed In
Hey man - what is your primary email?
Thank you for you kind words on my tunes! I appreciate the listens and feedback :)
It's fun to say, right?
Empanadas. Empanadas. Empanadas.
Happy FAWM!
Hi Justin, I’m glad you’re back for your third FAWM! I look forward to your new creations. :)
DJing in Chelsea? Trying to think where. The Rumpus Room is all I can come up with.
Wait, my wife says "my" Justin lives in Ann Arbor...
Did you move to Ann Arbor?
I've been thinking—I have a painter named Justin, who lives in Ypsi, plays guitar and writes songs. I don't think you're him, but... are you him?
Thanks! You can imagine Lafayette Coney Island, sure. It's more of a Lafayette of the mind, I think--somewhere warm where the people are nice to you and not whatever shithole full of jerks you're stuck in now. :)
Hey, thanks for stopping by. I'm always excited to hear your stuff. Your music always resonates with me, and you have the skills to execute it with brio. Let's do it!
My dude! Nice to hear from you! Have a great FAWM! You know where the Factory is...feel free to drop by with ideas or whatever. And I'm going to make that French Horn work for me one way or the other.
...y'all just wait 'n see or rather hear!
Thanks for the welcome! Hope your FAWM goes well too!
hey Justin! nice meeting you on the zoom party as well.
I did cheat tho, with the whole "putting a music to the face and a face to the music" and am on your bandcamp listening to your FAWM 2020 album. loving it!
eager to listen to what you're gonna bring this year. Happy FAWM!
Hi Justin!
Looks like you have a lot of the same goals I do this year. I'm in Milwaukee and definitely looking to connect with more musicians, especially in the midwest to see how our musical tastes line up : )
Looking forward to hearing your stuff!
- Jorge
We have "met" on here before... I hope some day I'll get to hear your stuff in the physical world. I've moved to Chelsea, but I still get to Ypsi now and then.
Wow, you’re listening to my album… I am honored. Thank you.
Hey Justin, thank you for the kind words. I can't wait to get started again.. good luck to you!
Sending word from over the pond! Hope you have an awesome Fawm :D
That's a pretty apt metaphor! Unless its a more modern RPG especially an online one, then they also want all your dollars in microtransactions!
Hi Justin--looking forward to hearing your stuff.
Hey, Justin! Wishing you a great FAWM, buddy!
Yeah it probably did have ghosts. I'm sure I mentioned that thing either here or 50/90 now as well now. I think it was standup that said I should write a song about the old mariache that used to own that amp. Great idea! I might have to do that this year.
Yeah that's absolutely normal. They are "quieter" than most mics, but that also makes them great for micing cabs and drums or stage vocal mics. Most will need a pretty high gain preamp, well not need, but yeah you're right if you get a really good preamp on one they're magical. Using one to mic a speaker cabinet paired with a 57 is some of the best guitar sounds I've ever been able to get. (57 right close to the speaker and the ribbon about a 12-16inches away) I don't know all the technical jargon involved, but I feel like they capture what a amp/speaker actually sounds like in the room really great, and that has a lot to do with them being quiet, and I'm sure there's hundreds of people even here that could probably explain that better than me.
Huge fan of ribbon mics, its on one of the back burners but I do need a new one myself. I looked at that site you linked and those look really great, and that's a reasonable price for a nice ribbon as well. Thanks.
and you got what would of made the avatar challenge super easy for me, I think I've got 4 or 5 variations of those laying around :)
Yo! Looking forward to your stuff again. Hope all is well!
All good noises come out of Michigan. :)
Only three! I feel like I've known your music for longer than that, but I haven't :-)
Re: Ableton, I have not actually used it, but I took an electronic music class that showed me how its workflow really is good for those styles. You can easily chain up modulation effects that are driving parameters in other virtual instruments. It's not how I think about production, and seems far from the Pro Tools workflow that I know and love. But I think EDM would be clumsy to do in PT.
'Allo!!!!!
Great to see ya, and me too! I've been kinda meh and not really playing much lately, but starting to get excited.
Hi Jeustan! Thank you for the lovely note. Perhaps we can collaborate this year.
Hope you have a great FAWM.
Someday we will collaborate.
It's a date!
Hi hope you’ll have a great FAWM
Looking forward to hearing new music from you,
Great to see you back for more this year, man. Didn't get the chance to listen along on 50/90 like I'd intended, so really looking forward to hearing more of your work in Feb.
Oh I’m really glad that you’re back. You add a lot to this place. By the way, we are (still) doing the Tuesday zooms….you should check in tonight if you can! It would be great to hang out again.
A big wave from the West side... Looking forward to hearing your FAWMing!! :)
Looking forward to hearing what you come up with this year!
Hey, I'm looking forward to your tunes this February.
They're always great!!
Rock on! Hope you have a great FAWM!
A very big hello to you!! I hope that you’re back again this year!
